RED CARD TRANSLATION:

VIDEO TRANSLATION:

It's been a stressful day today for a lot of us, myself included. Yes - ICE has detained Deaf community members and parents of Deaf children here in Maine. These children are devastated, stunned, and basically not functional at schools.

Many of you have expressed concerns about Gov. Mills not providing interpreters in the past two video conferences—both to me and in various Facebook posts. About that, I have been in conversation with the Gov. Mills office (Communications team). They have indicated that in these situations they only had 45 minutes of heads up before these videos were made. I asked if they at least attempted to request an interpreter. They have not replied to the last email I sent. I personally doubt the request was made, but that conversation is still ongoing. I am working on holding them accountable.

ICE: See ICE at your house? Don't answer the door. My suggestion: Do not stay at your home. You have the right to go to a friend's house. If you are incapable of staying somewhere else, be at home but ignore all the commotion ICE is making at your house. Do not answer the door.

We will be working on getting more resources (in addition to what we already have) and will share with the community as they come. Right now I have shared the RED CARD translation (see YouTube link) translated by April Jackson - great translation and resource. Check it out to learn your rights when it comes to ICE.

Any questions or concerns, please comment below or contact us directly. We will try to find information and answers to your questions.
