Paul Miller’s Law takes effect today for all motorists in Pennsylvania.

The new law makes it illegal to use a handheld cell phone or other mobile device while driving — even when stopped at a red light or in traffic. Officers may stop drivers solely for this violation.

The law is named in memory of Paul Miller, who was killed in 2010 by a distracted driver reaching for a phone. Its purpose is simple: save lives and prevent needless tragedies caused by distracted driving.

Put the phone down. Keep your eyes on the road. Arrive safely.

Yardley Borough Police Department at Pride in Buttonwood Park

Today was an incredible day at Buttonwood Park as our community came together to celebrate Pride, unity, acceptance, and respect for one another.

Chief Golden and members of the Yardley Borough Police Department were proud to attend and take part in such a positive and welcoming event. We were also joined by Mayor Caroline Thompson and Councilman David Appelbaum , who came out in support of our residents and the spirit of community that makes Yardley such a special place.

Events like today remind us that public safety is built on trust, connection, and showing up for every member of our community. We are proud to stand with our residents, celebrate with them, and continue our commitment to serving everyone with dignity, fairness, and respect.

A sincere thank you to everyone who organized, supported, and attended today’s Pride event. The smiles, conversations, and sense of togetherness made it a truly meaningful day.

One community. One Yardley. Proud to serve.

Today, our community came together for a meaningful and memorable Memorial Day.

From the Memorial Mile, to the Memorial Ceremony, and the Memorial Day Parade, it was an excellent day to pause, reflect, and honor the brave men and women who gave everything so that we may live freely here today.

The Yardley Borough Police Department would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out to take part in today’s events. Your presence, support, and respect helped make this day truly special.

We also extend a special thank you to the Lower Makefield Township Police Department and the Yardley Makefield Emergency Unit for their support and assistance throughout the day. Events like this are successful because of strong partnerships, teamwork, and a shared commitment to our community.

Most importantly, today we remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. We honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, and we keep their families in our hearts.

May we never forget their courage, their sacrifice, and the freedom they secured for all of us.
