Fire training notice.

On Sunday morning May 31st Yamhill Fire - Station 4 is hosting a county wide water shuttle drill. There will be at least 7 departments participating.

What is a water supply drill? Here's a few photos to help explain. We will be utilizing an engine to draft water from the river and then fill water tenders. Eight tenders will be shuttling water over to our simulated 'fire' location where another engine will be spraying water into a field (where it will drain back to the river) and then the water tenders will go back to fill up.

This will help all involved train, work with new drivers, and practice skills.

There will be no actual fire, and all equipment will be driving normally.

Please use caution on Old Railroad Grade between Pike and Moores Valley Road.

Want to know what you can and can’t burn? Thank you CTGR for putting this together.

Want to know what you can and can’t burn? Thank you CTGR for putting this together.

Burning season is quickly coming to a close. The latest burn season will remain open through is June 15th, however it is possible the season will close sooner due to the warmer temperatures in the forecast.

Here are a few reminders when it comes to burning.

Please be aware. Unfortunately, public will not be allowed to watch.

LIVE FIRE TRAINING HAPPENING NOW - NO PUBLIC VIEWING due to limited space and firefighter safety

Carlton Fire District is conducting a live fire training exercise at a donated structure located at 7485 NW Meadowlake Road. Training operations will begin with the first evolution being lit at approximately 5:00 PM.

Our volunteers dedicate countless hours throughout the year attending weekly trainings and building the foundational skills needed to respond when emergencies happen. Live fire training opportunities like this provide a rare chance to put that groundwork into action through realistic, controlled fire evolutions.

Due to the limited accessibility of the property and roadway, this training will not be open to the public for viewing. We kindly ask community members to avoid stopping vehicles or walking along Meadowlake Road and NW Bakeman Lane during the training to help prevent traffic congestion and allow emergency personnel to operate safely.

Residents in the surrounding area may notice smoke conditions throughout the evening and are encouraged to keep windows closed if smoke becomes a nuisance.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the property owner for donating the structure and taking the necessary steps to prepare the home for this important training opportunity. Community support like this plays a vital role in helping our firefighters prepare to serve Carlton Fire District safely and effectively.

PNW SEVERE RISK TODAY! Severe storms are likely across parts of the Pacific Northwest this afternoon and evening, especially across southern Washington and Oregon, and western and central Idaho. The setup features an upper-level low over central California and a strengthening surface low moving from eastern Oregon into southern Washington which will help storms develop, organize and intensify. Storms are expected to first develop across southern Oregon around midday before expanding northward through the afternoon. Storms may organize into a larger line of thunderstorms moving northwest across much of Oregon late this afternoon and into southern Washington this evening, with a more isolated severe risk reaching parts of central and northern Washington tonight. The atmosphere will become increasingly unstable with enough wind shear to support all modes of severe weather - damaging wind gusts and large hail will be the primary risks but there is also a low-end tornado risk, especially near the surface low where wind shear will be strongest. Any tornadoes that form will likely be brief and embedded within rotating segments of the line. There's also the potential for a few instances of flash flooding, especially near recent burn scars. Please stay weather aware today. Have multiple ways to receive warnings, know what you'll do if a damaging storm or tornado is moving your way, and be very cautious if you're out hiking in the mountains or out on the water
