There is something pretty special about seeing thousands of runners come to our area for an event that celebrates determination, community and the proud history of the United States Air Force. 🇺🇸

The Air Force Marathon celebrates its 30th running this weekend, with events Friday and Saturday at Wright State University and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

Our community's connection to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is such an important part of Greene County. It brings together military and civilian families, supports our regional economy, drives innovation and gives our community the privilege of knowing and working alongside so many people who serve our country.

I especially love that the weekend has something for so many different participants, from the full marathon and half marathon to the 10K, 5K and Tailwind Trot for kids.

Best of luck to everyone running this weekend, and thank you to the many volunteers, organizers, military personnel and community partners who help welcome runners from near and far.

Today we take a moment to remember those lost on September 11, 2001. It's hard to believe that it's been 25 years since that day, and while time heals, it does not let us forget. And it is a good reminder to be there for the people around you, to not let differences turn to hate, to stand up for those in need, and to be brave even when things are falling to pieces around you.

I pray today for our nation to continue to stand strong, to fight for freedom, to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

Enjoyed spending the evening with the Greene County Farm Bureau for their Annual Meeting & Election! 🌾🚜

Agriculture is such an important part of Greene County, and I always appreciate the opportunity to spend time with the farmers, families, and community partners who work hard to keep it strong.

We also heard an update from Greene Soil & Water Conservation District and learned more about the work being done to support our local landowners, protect our natural resources, and provide conservation education throughout the county. Congratulations to Stephen Mackell of Green Table Gardens, recognized as Cooperator of the Year!

One of the things I love about these gatherings is getting to hear directly from the people doing the work. Our agricultural community plays such an important role in Greene County, not only in what they produce, but in how they care for the land and invest in the future.

Thank you to the Greene County Farm Bureau and Greene Soil & Water Conservation District for all you do for our community! 💚🌱

It was an honor to join the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association for a special reception welcoming Captain Leon W. Moore, United States Navy, Commander’s Action Group Director for the Navy Reserve Chief of Information at the Pentagon.

I’m always grateful for opportunities like this to meet the men and women who serve our country and to help welcome them to the Miami Valley. Our region has such a strong connection to our military, and organizations like MVMAA do important work strengthening the relationship between our military personnel, their families, and the communities they call home.

Thank you to the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association for bringing everyone together, and a very warm Miami Valley welcome to Captain Moore!

We are proud of our military community and grateful for all who serve.

It’s wonderful to see another opportunity for residents to gather, support local farmers and small businesses, and enjoy all that Downtown Bellbrook has to offer.

One of the things I love most about Greene County is the way our community shows up for one another, and One Bistro is a wonderful example of what that looks like.

I have supported and been involved with this ministry for years because I believe deeply in its mission. One Bistro does more than serve meals. They create a place where everyone is welcomed, treated with dignity, and given the opportunity to be part of a caring community.

This week is especially meaningful as One Bistro celebrates 10 years of serving our neighbors during the 7th Annual National Everybody Eats Week, August 23–29. They have set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 to help continue this important work.

I also love seeing so many of our Greene County community partners being recognized as Community Heroes throughout the week. From our first responders and healthcare professionals to local leaders and organizations, it is a great reminder that caring for a community truly takes all of us working together.

Congratulations to One Bistro on 10 years of service! I am grateful for this ministry, the people behind it, and the difference they continue to make throughout Xenia and Greene County, OH.
