Clark's Hadwen Arboretum

Clark's Hadwen Arboretum Dedicated to the trees and wildlife of Clark's Hadwen Arboretum, a beautiful forest only a 10 minute Did you know that Clark has its very own forest?

The Hadwen Arboretum, willed to Clark University in 1907 by Worcester resident and noted horticulturist Obadiah Hadwen, is located at the intersection of Lovell and May Streets on ancestral land of the Nipmuc Nation. It contains 6.4 acres of unspoiled woodland green space in the heart of Worcester. The Arboretum lies at the midpoint of the East-West Trail, a 14-mile trek through many of Worcester’

s parks and green spaces. By following this trail you can visit Coes Reservoir, with water-front access for swimming and enjoying the natural setting. The Arboretum’s own network of trails and beautiful scenery feature many types of woody and herbaceous plants, including unusual species and many ‘heritage’ trees over 100 years old. The Hadwen Arboretum invites nature study and provides applied research opportunities in the sciences, such as research involving invasive species; the arts and humanities will also find abundant resources for study and contemplation. Also within the Hadwen Arboretum is a community garden administered by the Regional Environmental Council of Worcester. The Arboretum Advocates is a student-run organization that seeks to promote and preserve the Hadwen Arboretum. We regularly host events, such as nature walks and clean-ups, to foster engagement of the Clark community.
