The month of June is recognized as Gun Violence Awareness Month, a time to promote community safety and prevention strategies. Firearm safety is a very serious topic. Here at Woburn PD we play a role in making our community safer. Responsible firearm ownership, handling, and security are vital in preventing tragic accidents.

Here are some safety tips for responsible firearm ownership:

When storing a firearm always use a firearm safe, a lockbox, a trigger lock, or a cable lock (shown here).

Always store fi****ms unloaded and keep ammunition in a separate secure location.

Educate yourself on the proper handling of your fi****ms and always treat every firearm as if it were loaded.

Never point any firearm at anything you are not intending to shoot and always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

Remember, proper education, handling, and storage of fi****ms is crucial in preventing a potential tragedy.

We a have free cable locks for anyone who may need one at the police station. These locks are available in our lobby at 25 Harrison Ave. If you need a cable lock feel free to swing by the police station to pick one up.

This group of kids have game and our officers really enjoyed the competition. Thank you to the YMCA for hosting this awesome event. Community events like this are such a positive way for teens/kids to interact with our officers outside of the uniform.
