Adams County Fire District was paged to a City of Adams residence for a structure fire with a report of a victim potentially trapped in the basement. Kudos to this team, forcing entry ahead of a hose line being available, locating the basement stairs, locating the victim and making a successful grab. The victim was transferred to EMS and transported to the hospital. The duo that made the grab then re-entered the residence and completed a primary search before suppression efforts began. Congratulations on a job well done! Strong work, fellas!

Mid-State Technical College, in partnership with Advanced Tactical Medicine, hosted the inaugural Tactical Strength & Readiness Symposium last month, bringing together professionals from 25 public safety agencies.

The two-day event focused on readiness, resilience, leadership, wellness, and decision-making for those serving in law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, corrections, and other first-responder disciplines.

Participants heard from speakers Todd Blyleven, Joseph E. Reid, and Stevens Point Fire Department Fire Chief JB Moody, joined breakout sessions, and connected across agencies to share strategies that support stronger teams and healthier, more prepared personnel.

Building on the success of this year’s event, Mid-State and Advanced Tactical Medicine are pleased to announce that next year's Tactical Strength & Readiness Symposium is scheduled for July 13-14, 2027.

On Friday evening the Hazardous Materials Operations class being held in Adams had a practical skills session. Damming, diking, diversion, underflow and overflow dam creation, and decontamination were the topics. The newly created hazmat training area at the Adams Fire Training Center was used and provided a great opportunity to work in realistic conditions.

Be ready when it matters most.

Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) Training is a four-day course in tactical medicine and rescue techniques, taking place October 1–4 in Wisconsin Rapids.

Participants will train with experienced instructors, build high-threat rescue and tactical medical care skills, and learn how to adapt under extreme conditions.

The course is open to professionals employed by or sponsored through law enforcement, fire/EMS, hospitals, military, or emergency government agencies. Pre-registration and proof of certification are required.

Cost is $490 per participant, and seats are limited to 27 participants.
