Winthrop Harbor, the docks are open and the 2026 season is here!

Thanks to our incredible lakefront stakeholders and our state elected officials, we were successfully able to advocate for the opening of this Marina, the economic engine of our great community. Your hard work, dedication, and partnership made this possible.

This is a true example of why Winthrop Harbor is such a great community, our resilience, our willingness to work together to achieve our goals and protect what matters, and the commitment of a trusted local long-term business, SkipperBud's, willing to step in during a moment of crisis.

The Village of Winthrop Harbor is proud to share another step forward in strengthening our community identity.

Over the past few months, we have made a focused effort to enhance our social media presence and better tell the story of who we are as a Lake Michigan community. That includes embracing our natural surroundings, our marina, and the character that makes Winthrop Harbor unique.

As part of these ongoing branding efforts, the Village Board and staff worked together to develop and officially adopt an official Village flag. The design is intentional. It features our new logo paired with the name Winthrop Harbor on a clean background, creating a simple, professional, and highly recognizable look.

Why does something like a flag matter?

• It creates a consistent identity across events, facilities, and communications
• It builds community pride and recognition
• It strengthens how we present ourselves to visitors, residents, and businesses
• It supports economic development by reinforcing a clear and unified brand
• It gives our community a visual symbol people can rally around

This is another step in positioning Winthrop Harbor as a strong, connected, and forward-thinking lakefront community.

Heads up, residents!

Starting next week, the Village will begin routine code enforcement throughout the community.
Our goal is simple: compliance over citations. We’re here to work with you—not against you—so if something needs attention, you’ll have the opportunity to fix it.

Here’s how it will work:
🔹 The Village is divided into 4 zones
🔹 Each week, the Code Enforcement Officer will focus on one zone at a time
🔹 We’ll post the schedule ahead of time so you know when your area is coming up
We appreciate everyone doing their part to keep the Village looking its best. If you have any questions or need help, feel free to reach out!

Zone 2 will begin on Monday
