We were in Houston County today knocking doors and hanging signs, and despite the heat and the bees, it felt so rewarding to be out there. A huge thank you to my husband and daughter for volunteering with me today!

The number one issue I heard was fraud. It is time to restore trust and fiscal responsibility in Minnesota, and I take that very seriously. People are tired of affordability struggles while watching some people steal from us, many without any consequences, including leaders who were supposed to be watchdogs for this kind of crime. We WILL course correct this very serious issue, and we DO have hope!

Another topic I heard about was healthcare. An EMS worker talked to me at length about mental health care for youth and support for EMS, as both of those worlds intersect. She shared stories that will stay with me forever, ones that are not mine to tell. But she was right - support for rural healthcare is critical, and it encompasses emergency and mental healthcare, as well.

As always, thank you to everyone for sharing experiences and concerns with me. I am blessed by you and will continue to fight for you!

I am inspired by the generous leadership of people like Mr. Ron Wanek of Ashley Furniture Industries and Mr. Joel Hennessy and Mr. Bill Lanik of The Crossings Center. I also admire everyone who works with each of these people, as I know it takes a team to accomplish this level of greatness. I am inspired, and I pray to make such a difference.

It was another beautiful night at The Crossings Center: live music, local talented vendors, delicious food options, and - best of all - community. It’s so wonderful to see so many people gathered together to celebrate life. May we never lose this!

I’m proud to be endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which represents over 10,000 small businesses in Minnesota.

As I grew up, I watched my parents own and run their own businesses: an independent real estate business and a local sign company. I witnessed the daily grind to create results that serve people and provide for your family. We need to make sure that family businesses can be passed down, that new businesses flourish, and that Minnesota is a friendly climate for all businesses.

Thank you for this endorsement! I’m proud to represent and serve business owners in Minnesota.

I am beyond honored to be endorsed by the Minnesota Farm Bureau. I grew up on a small farm with horses, and nearly all of my childhood friends lived on some sort of farm: dairy, crops, poultry, beef cattle, and more. The family legacy of farming is paramount, and it must be protected. The work that farmers do to provide food and products for our state and country is critical, not only to the state's economy, but to our very way of life in Southeast Minnesota.

Thank you for this endorsement, Minnesota Farm Bureau! I hold this near to my heart.

Today was my first day with all the students back! In the spirit of love for education, I wrote this letter.

Dear Minnesota Students:

Welcome back to another school year! You are vital members of our society, and your education is one of the most powerful resources you have to create your future. I pray fervently for your success, and I hope you believe in your gifts and talents that can serve this world. Of course, once you believe in yourself, you also have the sacred opportunity to nurture and grow those gifts. If you do, you will bless many.

Let us remember that not everyone in the world has the opportunity to get an education. I often remind my students and my own children that, though school may be daunting or frustrating or boring at times, it is a treasure. May we steward it well!

Remember also that the friends and influences you choose now will impact your future. I have heard it said that you are the sum of the five people you keep closest to you, and I’ve also seen its truth. Be the GOOD you long to see in your school and society, and join with others who have that same mission.

Be kind, even when it’s hard. Invite newcomers into your group. See the worth and value in every student around you. Keep good company. Get involved in sports or activities. Aim to become your best self.

No matter who you are, where you come from, which school you attend, or what your grades and test scores say, please believe in your immense value and incredible purpose. God made each of you unique, and there are amazing plans ahead for your important life.

I am proud of you. Go do great things! I know you will.

With love from a Minnesota teacher,
Mrs. Johnson

Last week, Houston County Fair was spectacular! Before I went to the booth to “meet and greet” passersby, I was able to walk around and view all of the animals and exhibits. 4-H exhibits are always my favorite because, as a teacher, I love to see the different ways that youth showcase their hard work and talent. Of course, if you know me, I also peeked in on the horse show for a few minutes!

At the booth, a lot of topics came up, from farm overregulation to education, and everything in between. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, for engaging in meaningful discussion! When we share ideas and talk through possible solutions together, we are helping the future of Minnesota.

Grateful to attend the 108th Annual Meeting of the Winona County Farm Bureau. The importance of farmers and agriculture cannot be overstated! It will be my honor to fight for the interests of current and future farmers so that generations of farming families can thrive here in Minnesota.
