In Honor and Recognition of D-Day:

May we all seek to emulate courage and sacrifice for the greater good, as did the brave troops who stormed the beaches at Normandy. Today we remember the bravery and self-sacrificial acts of those who went in and began the certain defeat of Axis forces, securing freedom for many in the world.

Whatever we are called to do, let us do it with unrelenting drive, incorruptible power, and everlasting love for what is good and right in the world.

Thank you to those who are serving and have served.🇺🇸

Today is National Donut Day, which is awesome because Bloedow’s Bakery is a staple here in Winona and has won awards in the state! Fun fact: Bloedow’s is walking distance from my school, and this past school year, I treated my students to Bloedow’s over 15 times to celebrate them. The staff there is as amazing as their doughnuts & baked goods.🤩

Another neat fact: According to USA Today, this holiday has patriotic roots: “This annual holiday, established in 1938 by The Salvation Army, honors the ‘Donut Lassies’ who served snacks to soldiers during World War I.”

I think a MN District 26 bakery tour is in order, so feel free to recommend your favorites.

Door knocking is so valuable to me because the most authentic conversations happen 1:1. Thank you to each person who takes time to talk!

I had an awesome constituent ask me what exactly I was fighting for when Minnesota already gets ranked among the best places to live. I loved this question and how much we both love where we live. I have seen those rankings, too, and it depends on the source and what those rankings consist of. We are very low in average median income, especially when compared to the high income tax - but we are high in beautiful scenery and safety!

In MN District 26, we have safe and beautiful communities. I will fight to keep our area safe. I will fight to make sure it’s more affordable. I will fight to make sure our tax money is spent responsibly. I will fight for improved education outcomes and more local control for schools. I will fight for business owners and farmers who feel over regulated and over taxed, many of whom are considering leaving the state. I will fight for families to raise their kids in a healthy, thriving environment.

Minnesota is worth fighting for.

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and as it comes to an end, I want to say thank you to all of the families who have answered the call and stepped into gaps to help children and families.

This month, it’s also been exactly 10 years since Ben and I got licensed as foster parents. We have seen some children come and go from our home, reunified with family forever. We have also adopted children who can’t go back to biological families. Each story in foster care is entirely unique. Each story matters deeply.

Children are our future, and every child has inherent worth that we must protect. Foster care is an important way that we support our future in Minnesota, helping kids and families heal and thrive for generations.

One thing about MN District 26 - the views NEVER disappoint. I’ve been blessed by epic views and authentic conversations all around Winona this week.
Climbing hills and battling heat are so worth it because I get to meet more of you and hear your concerns directly. It’s an honor to fight for you and the future of Minnesota!

See you out there again tomorrow!

Memorial Day: How could we ever adequately show our gratitude? It is a gift to honor heroes who lost their lives while serving us!

To those heroes and their families, we say THANK YOU. We bless you. We uphold the values you fought and died for.

As we celebrate 250 years of the United States of America, we vow to never forget those who paid it all so we can be free.
