🚨 REGIONAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY 🚨

The Village of Winnebago will not be directly impacted by road closures associated with the IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford race on Saturday, June 14; however, residents traveling throughout the Rockford area should expect increased traffic and roadway restrictions in portions of the region.

πŸ’‘ PRO TIP: Download the free Waze app before race day.

Waze provides real-time traffic updates and can help drivers navigate around road closures and congestion by suggesting alternate routes. If you plan on traveling in or around Rockford on June 14, having the app ready can help save time and avoid delays.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and be aware of increased pedestrian and bicycle traffic associated with the event.

We encourage everyone to support the athletes and organizers as they showcase our region during this exciting event!

PRO TIP: Download the free Waze app before race day to help navigate road closures and traffic impacts during the IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford race on June 14. Waze updates in real time and can help drivers find alternate routes around closed streets, making it easier to get where you need to go throughout the day. If you're planning to travel around Rockford on race day, having Waze ready to go can save time and reduce frustration.

πŸ”’ THE 9PM ROUTINE IS BACK πŸ”’

As warmer weather arrives, we often see an increase in vehicle burglaries and other property crimes throughout the region. Many of these incidents are crimes of opportunity and can be prevented with a few simple habits.

The Village of Winnebago Police Department is bringing back the 9PM Routine.

Every night at 9:00 PM, take a few moments to:

πŸ”’ Lock your vehicle and home doors
πŸ‘€ Observe your surroundings and report suspicious activity
πŸ’° Conceal valuables and remove them from plain view
πŸšͺ Keep garage doors and windows secured

A few simple steps each night can help protect your property and make our community a more difficult target for criminals.

Join us in making the 9PM Routine part of every evening.

A good reminder from our partners at the Sheriff Winnebago County. Keep an eye out this evening as we bring back the posts.

LOCK IT BEFORE YOU LEAVE IT! The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office reminds residents to always lock their vehicles, whether parked at home, work, or while running errands. Unlocked vehicles are often easy targets for thieves looking for wallets, purses, electronics, loose change and other valuables. Remember to lock your doors, close all windows, remove all valuables from sight, take your keys with you and report any suspicious activity.

Officer Jeff may have won the inflatable race, but chasing down Dr. Baker in a pig costume might have been a little too on the nose for a police officer… πŸ·πŸš“πŸ˜‚

SRO Spelman gave it his best effort, but Dr. Baker made a successful escape this time around. We’re not saying the pig costume gave her extra speed, but we also can’t rule it out.

The pursuit finally came to an end after Dr. Baker took a dramatic tumble at the end β€” thankfully with plenty of laughs from everyone watching. We’re happy to report there were no injuries, no reports taken, and no citations issued to runaway pigs. πŸ˜‚

Huge shoutout to the staff for always making the end of the school year so much fun for the students!
