2 years ago we were told that inflation was out of control, everyday items were overpriced, and gas was way too high.

We were promised by one man that only he could save our country from the impending financial doom to come. He promised to reduce prices on day one, wipe out the national debt (anyone remember the promise of the deficit being paid off with $1,000,000 Trump Visas?) and go after "waste, fraud, and abuse"

For some reason enough people believed him and he became our President.

2 years later we are being told that they have a plan to bring down costs that Biden somehow increased after leaving the oval office.
The waste is rampant in our government. Fraud is a nearly daily occurrence, and the Constitutional system in place for 250 years is being abused at an astounding rate.

On Tuesday you have the opportunity to vote. The NH secretary of state is guessing that about 28 percent of eligible voters will show up to the polls. Don't be part of the 72 percent that don't. Your vote and voice count. I know the politicians don't always support everything you may want, but I think we can all agree that at the state and national level, things have gone in the wrong direction.

NH Democrats aren't proposing any new taxes. That's actually the opposite of what's happening. Republicans in Concord caused your property taxes to rise by refusing to fund public education, pensions, and other state obligations, leaving your towns to make up the difference on your property tax bill. Don't take our word for it, ask your town officials yourself.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

Can greater state investment in public education help lower local property-tax pressure?

New Hampshire’s own history tells us it can.

When the Statewide Education Property Tax was first implemented, it was paired with additional state support weighted toward communities with lower property values, higher taxes, and greater needs.

Average education property tax rates fell statewide, from $17.69 per $1,000 of property value in 1998 to $13.62 in 1999.

The lesson is not that any one policy is perfect. It is that how we raise revenue and share responsibility has real consequences for taxpayers, students, and communities.

New Hampshire can make policy choices that strengthen public schools while reducing pressure on communities struggling with high property taxes.

The challenge is not choosing between strong schools and affordable communities. It is building a funding system capable of sustaining both.
