The animals may not be able to say "thank you," but we can.

Every full food bowl, every clean habitat, every enrichment activity, every medication given, and every moment of patience and compassion is because of our amazing caretakers.

Today, on Sanctuary Caretaker Day, we celebrate the people who dedicate their hearts to providing exceptional care, premium diets, spotless homes, and endless love to the animals of Elmira's Wildlife Sanctuary.

The work isn't always easy, but the impact is immeasurable.

Lexi’s summer routine:

Pool days are serious business around here, especially during these Florida temperatures. Enrichment like ice blocks helps keep our animals cool, active, and mentally stimulated all at the same time.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men, women, and military working dogs who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Because of their courage and dedication, places like Elmira’s Wildlife Sanctuary are able to continue protecting and caring for the animals we love so deeply.

As we spend time with family, friends, and the animals who bring us joy, we reflect with gratitude on the freedoms made possible by those who gave everything.

Today, we remember the fallen.
We honor their sacrifice.

And we thank those — both human and canine — who served with loyalty, bravery, and heart.

Stanley knows the routine by now…
The second the pool starts getting cleaned, he’s already waiting for his giant popsicle payment. 🐻🍧

Today’s flavor special? A frozen fruit block packed with apples, berries, and snacks big enough for a grizzly. Nothing beats watching him carefully lick, paw at, and demolish his icy treat while his freshly cleaned pool sparkles behind him.

People always ask how we keep enrichment fun for animals like Stanley — and honestly, sometimes it’s the simple things. New smells, cold treats, something to work at, and the chance to engage natural behaviors all make a huge difference.

Safe to say Stanley fully believes pool cleaning day exists exclusively for his snack delivery service. 😂🧊🐻

Exciting news from Elmira’s Wildlife Sanctuary! 🦁❤️

Safari, Vaas & Ariel have officially been reunited!

After Safari’s recent surgery and recovery, seeing this pride back together again means everything to us. Watching them relax side by side, soaking up the sunshine like they were never apart, is exactly why we do what we do.

Moments like these remind us that sanctuary work is about more than just care — it’s about giving these animals comfort, companionship, and the chance to simply be lions.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, supported, and followed Safari’s journey. Because of you, this reunion was possible. 🫶
