What an incredible day at the Wilton YMCA! ๐Ÿ’™ We had the privilege of discussing mental health with our amazing community. Organizations from all over the state gathered together to share vital resources, talk about our shared concerns, and spread a powerful message of hope. It is so important to know that you are not alone.

If you're navigating your child's mental health, Cartwheel is a name worth knowing. It's a mental health resource built specifically for families, offering virtual therapy, parent coaching, and expert-backed tools to support kids and teens through challenges like anxiety, depression, and school stress.

Their latest resource is a must-read if your child has ever struggled with school avoidance or anxiety: "When School Feels Hard: Understanding Anxiety and Avoidance in Kids" It breaks down what's really happening when kids refuse school or melt down at drop-off, plus 7 practical strategies you can start using today. "The goal is not to eliminate a child's anxiety. It is to build their capacity to move through it with a steady, regulated adult alongside them."

Whether you're in the thick of it or just want to be prepared, this is worth a read. ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.cartwheel.org/resource/when-school-feels-hard-understanding-anxiety-and-avoidance-in-kids

Meet HEAL, a community service program brought to you in partnership with Homes with Hope and Wilton Social Services! ๐Ÿค

What do HEAL members do?
Meeting one day a week right after school (Oct-May), students dive into hands-on projects like:
๐Ÿ“Œ Cooking and serving meals at shelters like the Gillespie Center
๐Ÿ“Œ Hosting Senior Tech Days to help local seniors with phones and devices
๐Ÿ“Œ Making "Bookmarks & Pillows" for area senior centers
๐Ÿ“ŒCreating Valentine's cards for youth in foster care and kids in hospitals
๐Ÿ“Œ Helping out at Rising Starr Horse Rescue and making blankets for animal shelters

And itโ€™s not just about volunteering. Group sessions cover important life skills like mindfulness, leadership, coping skills, gratitude, and mental well-being.

These efforts are made possible thanks to the generous support of Homes with Hope, Inc., the Sexauer Foundation, and the Bedford Family Social Responsibility Fund.
