Last night was quite a night all across town! We have found downed power lines, carports blown down, roofs and fences damaged, and many trees damaged or completely uprooted. Because of this, we will have decided to extend the cleanup. We will have the dumpsters replaced early next week when it is dry enough to move them and will keep them through the following weekend to help with cleanup efforts from the storm damage.

TXDOT will be running street sweepers on FM 400 and FM 211 beginning at 8 am on June 9th. Please park any vehicles away from the roadway tomorrow to avoid possible damage.

The City of Wilson will begin vector control activities for mosquitoes tomorrow evening between the hours of 8:30 pm - 10 pm. Our vehicle will have flashing overhead lights operating during these activities. We ask our residents to bring pets indoors during this time if possible. Depending on the mosquito population, these activities will occur on Tuesday, Friday, and the following Monday. Activities may also happen around the dawn hours. If you happen to be outside and see our truck, please head inside until we have been out of the area for at least 10 minutes. We spray at these times because the mosquitoes are most active and most beneficial insects have returned to their hives and will not be negatively impacted. If you have standing water in tires, buckets, pools, or other areas, please empty it if possible to reduce breeding areas. Mosquitoes also love weeds and tall grass, so yard maintenance will help to minimize their presence. We do have a limited number of larvacide pucks available for standing water that cannot be drained. For help, call Josh at (806)759-1375 or City Hall at (806)628-6221.

The cleanup dumpsters have been replaced! Please remember, no tires, no matter how small they may be. They will also not accept appliances.

We just wanted to let everyone know that Republic Waste has had a backlog and has been unable to pick up and replace the clean up dumpsters. They have advised that they should be able to pick them up next Tuesday. Fingers crossed!! We'll continue the cleanup into the following weekend for those that still need access to the dumpsters!

At our last City Council meeting, members were sworn in for their new terms and outgoing Mayor Randy Dunn and retiring City Secretary Susanne Follis were celebrated for their years of dedicated service to the people of Wilson. Please join us in thanking them for their unwavering support of our town and also to welcome incoming Mayor, Adam Ramirez, and our new City Secretary Donna Taylor!! We look forward to working as a team to better the lives of every Wilson citizen.

Due to an issue with one of our booster pumps at the water tower, we were unable to continue the cleanup today. The pump is fixed and if everything goes according to plan, we will try to have the dumpsters hauled off and replaced tomorrow, May 19th.
