We appear to be out of the woods and pressure has been stabilized to normal. Thank you for your patience. During this crisis, we did not get a chance to read meters at our regular time, so water bills will be arriving a little late this month. They should be in your mail box in the next day or so.

If you happen to be out and about and see our Mayor, Adam Ramirez, please stop by and shake his hand. He was very generous with his praise, but it should be noted that he has taken time away from his own work and volunteered his time so that we can work in shifts to keep the system running during this issue. Our council members and mayor are not paid employees of the city and donate 100% of their time. That includes things like water emergencies, Friends of the Museum, work on the new Animal Control Facility, and many other ways that our council shows up every day to help keep our city running and moving in a positive direction. As the employees of the city, we'd like to recognize the commitment and dedication of our council with their time and expertise.

💧 APPRECIATION FOR OUR UTILITIES DIRECTOR

We want to recognize Joshua Isham, our Utilities Director, for going above and beyond for the City of Wilson.

For the past 4 days, Joshua has been working overnight and putting in long hours to keep our water system running and water flowing to our residents. While most of us are asleep, he has been working to make sure our residents have water for basic needs like showers, washing hands, using the restroom, and everyday life.

Keeping a water system running is a round the clock job, especially when problems arise. Joshua has continued working day and night to keep the water flowing while we work through the issues affecting our system.

This work often happens behind the scenes, but it matters. Joshua, thank you for your dedication and for putting our residents first.

We still have issues to fix, and it may take several days, but we are not giving up. We will keep working until the job is done and our water system is back where it needs to be.

Thank you Joshua, for continuing to work around the clock and keep Wilson’s water flowing. 💧

We have brought the pressure swings somewhat under control. The issues at our booster station caused our ground storage to lag behind where it needs to be. Pressure will be maintained at a low pressure for the time being while we catch our ground storage up so that we can efficiently feed the system. For the next couple of days expect to see water pressures between 22 psi and 30 psi. There is the possibility of a planned outage in the days to come while we restore the system to standard service. We will keep you informed in the case that this happens. Once we have the ground storage caught up we will return the system to it's typical 43 psi. Again, we know that this is not ideal and we apologize for the inconvenience. We do request that our customers limit their water use during this period to allow us to catch up faster. During these hot, dry months, we would request that our customers strongly consider not watering grass until there is the prospect of rain to keep that grass alive.

Due to some possibly heat related electrical issues at our main booster pump station, we have been experiencing wide swings in system pressure. While we have maintained a safe pressure, we understand that this is not an ideal situation and have been working around the clock to rectify the issue. Please bear with us as the electrical problems have caused serious pump damage and unstable flows.

The Friends of the Museum group kicked off their first meeting yesterday and spent the morning organizing a plan to get our museum in tip top shape!! Many thanks to Councilwoman Molly Vardeman, Carolyn Klaus, Councilwoman Helen Stephenson, and Angela Fowler for their hard work and dedication to our town's history! The City Council has created a Friends of the Museum working group to help with museum upkeep and cataloging at City Hall. This is a volunteer group!!
