As a committed Democrat, Mayor Mike's two terms of service exemplified his Partyโs commitments to personal freedom, economic and educational opportunity, efficient and effective government, and justice for all.
His vision for Wilmington was unparalleled. He not only saw who we were, but who we could be, and spent his life - both in and out of office - in dedicated service to that vision. He pulled together a broad coalition of Wilmingtonians who trusted his leadership, his vision, and his very big heart.
"Mike Purzycki was a beacon of light for โWโilmingtonโ, one that led the way while always leading us all towards a better Cityโ says Chair Cassandra Marshall.
"That trust was built on listening to usโ - you could always get Mayor Mike's attention by talking about how you wanted your neighborhood to get betterโ, and he worked at being a great partner in helping your neighborhood achieve that ambition.โโ
Vice Chair Kerry Kristine McElrone echoes these sentiments: โMayor Mike was always open to discuss the challenges faced by everyday people, and interested in solutions designed to empower our residents.
