PBIS teaches and reinforces positive behavior expectations, while our House System gives students an exciting way to be recognized for demonstrating respect, responsibility, leadership, kindness, effort, and school pride.

A Special Day of Remembrance at The Bayard School!

Today, The Bayard School had the distinct honor of welcoming Governor Matt Meyer as we commemorated September 11 and reflected on a day that forever changed our nation.

Governor Meyer shared with our students how the events of 9/11 personally impacted him and helped shape his life. His passion, authenticity, and down-to-earth spirit were evident as he connected with our students and staff and took time to walk our halls and admire our beautiful, historic building.

One of the most meaningful moments of the visit was watching Governor Meyer read The Survivor Tree to a group of our second-grade students. This powerful story of resilience, hope, and rebuilding carries a message that resonates deeply with us at Bayard as we continue to Rise & Build together.

Through this initiative, nearly 10,000 books were donated to 30 schools across Delaware, and The Bayard School is incredibly grateful to be among the schools receiving this special gift.

Thank you, Governor Meyer, for spending this important day with our students and staff. We also extend our sincere appreciation to your team, the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, and the State Office of Volunteerism for investing in Delaware’s children through literacy, service, and remembrance.

Today, our Bulldogs were reminded that September 11 is not only a day to remember those we lost and honor those who sacrificed, but also a day to reflect on the strength, unity, service, and resilience that followed.

We remember. We honor. We serve. We will never forget.

Our 4th graders are learning all about the work of a geologist and how rocks can tell us about an environment. Today they started building their own models of rocks!

Today, we were excited to welcome Superintendent Dr. Deirdra Aikens and one of our Assistant Superintendents Norm Kennedy to The Bayard School! They toured our building, visited classrooms, and had an opportunity to see our Bulldogs learning, growing, and Rising & Building together. Dr. Aikens made the visit extra sweet with a special surprise, Mr. Softee ice cream for ALL!

There’s nothing like seeing the smiles on the faces of our students and staff. We LOVE Mr. Softee!

Thank you, Dr. Aikens and Mr. Kennedy, for spending time with our Bayard family and making today so special!

The lockers are officially FINISHED! 🔥🐾

And next week, the excitement at The Bayard School reaches another level! Over three days, we will sort our students in grades 1–8 into their houses!

The anticipation is REAL! Students are already throwing up the house signs, wearing their teacher scarves, and trying to figure out the big question…

We absolutely love teasing them and watching the excitement build. The energy, pride, and sense of belonging that our House System is creating is something special to witness.

A HUGE thank you to the fearless JaMeta Johnson, House of Reveur Leader, for collaborating with her nephew to help bring this vision to life. Your creativity, dedication, and willingness to jump in and help us BUILD something extraordinary for our students does not go unnoticed. 💙 🐺

We shared a few weeks ago about our Borchestra performing at Summer in the Parks, and recently, one of our former students shared the photos he captured at the event. 📸

We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share his awesome work! We are so proud to see our students continue to use their talents and passions even after they leave our halls. 💙

🐾 READY TO LEARN, BULLDOGS! 📚

At The Bayard School, our goal is simple: we want every student to arrive on time, prepared, and in class ready to learn! 💙

As we begin the school year, we’re asking our Bulldogs and families to help us start each day strong by coming to school prepared and ready for a successful day of learning.

A few important reminders from our Updated Procedures:
📵 Cell phones & tablets are not permitted during the school day. Devices must be secured in a personal locker or a school-provided Yondr pouch, which must remain sealed throughout the school day.
🥤 Outside food & drinks are not permitted after 8:50 AM, including coffee, food, and energy drinks.
🚫 Food deliveries such as DoorDash and Uber Eats are prohibited for students. Parents/guardians may still deliver a forgotten lunch to the school.

When students are on time, prepared, and ready to learn, they are in the best position to make the most of their school day!
