Whitley County Cooperative Extension- Community Arts Whitley Extension Community Arts is part of the UK Cooperative Extension Service for Whitley County.

Arts Extension improves the quality of life for communities and individuals in Kentucky through a multidisciplinary arts approach in education, research, and outreach. We provide Arts education and cultural experiences to the citizens of Whitley County. We are working hard to build Arts in the community through local and traveling exhibits, community art events, and also nourishing relationships with our local artists, businesses and organizations. --check in with us and join the fun!

A Day of Creativity and Community!

The Whitley County Cooperative Extension Office partnered with W.D. Bryant & Son to host a community birdhouse painting event led by Mawnie Belcher, Community Arts Program Assistant, and Andrew Modica, Agriculture & Horticulture Program Assistant.

Participants transformed birdhouses into colorful works of art, showcasing their creativity and unique styles. From bright patterns to nature-inspired designs, every birdhouse reflected the imagination and talent of its creator.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a fun and memorable experience. We loved seeing our community come together through art and creativity!

Community Creativity in Action!

The Whitley County Cooperative Extension Office partnered with W.D. Bryant & Son for a fun, hands-on community birdhouse workshop! Led by Mawnie Belcher, Community Arts Program Assistant, and Andrew Modica, Agriculture & Horticulture Program Assistant, participants built and painted their own birdhouses while exploring their creativity.

We had a fantastic time, and everyone brought unique ideas and artistic flair to their projects. It was wonderful to see so many creative designs come to life while bringing our community together.

Inspired by Kandinsky: Alcohol Ink Masterpieces

We had a fabulous Part 2 of our Alcohol Ink Wassily Kandinsky program! Participants explored color, creativity, and artistic expression as they created stunning alcohol ink designs on plates inspired by Kandinsky's work.

We are continually amazed by the talent and imagination our students bring to each class. Every piece was unique, vibrant, and beautifully crafted.

This program was led by Mawnie Belcher, Community Arts Program Assistant. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this workshop such a wonderful experience!

What an incredible time at our Wassily Kandinsky, Alcohol Ink – Part 1 program! Participants explored the life and artistic style of Wassily Kandinsky, completed a Kandinsky-inspired art exercise, and designed stunning alcohol ink mugs. The creativity and final pieces were absolutely beautiful.

We’re excited for Part 2, where participants will take their alcohol ink skills to the next level by designing their own unique decorative plates. Stay tuned—you won’t want to miss it!
