Congratulations to Cadet Curtis LeFlore on graduating from Cadet Summer Training!

Cadet LeFlore attended 4th Regiment as a member of Charlie Company, where he demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout training. During CST, he served in the following leadership positions:

• Platoon Leader 
• Platoon Sergeant 
• Squad Leader

When asked about the highlight of his CST experience, Cadet LeFlore shared:

“Leading my squad in the field and seeing everyone come together to accomplish the mission.”

Cadet Summer Training is designed to challenge cadets both mentally and physically while evaluating their ability to lead in dynamic and demanding environments. Congratulations to Nathan Harville on graduating from Basic Camp!

Cadet Harville attended 1st Regiment as a member of Alpha Company, where he represented the University of the Cumberlands Army ROTC program with professionalism and determination. During Basic Camp, he served in the following leadership positions:

• Platoon Leader (2 evaluations)
• Squad Leader

When asked about the highlight of his camp experience, Cadet Harville shared that the Field Training Exercise (FTX) was his favorite experience, providing opportunities to challenge himself, work alongside fellow cadets, and develop his confidence as a leader.

When asked about the hardest part of Basic Camp, Cadet Harville said the rappel wall was the most challenging event. Stepping backward over the edge while trusting his equipment, training, and instructors made it one of the biggest mental obstacles he had to overcome.

When reflecting on his time at Basic Camp, Cadet Harville emphasized the importance of approaching every day with a willingness to learn. His advice for future cadets preparing to attend Basic Camp was simple:

“Be a sponge.”

He encourages future cadets to absorb as much knowledge and experience as possible, remain open to feedback, ask questions, and take advantage of every training opportunity. The more effort a cadet puts into learning from instructors and peers, the more they will grow as a leader.

Basic Camp is a four-week introduction to Army ROTC that prepares future cadets by building a foundation in Army values, leadership, teamwork, land navigation, physical fitness, and tactical skills. It is designed to develop confidence, resilience, and the leadership potential needed to succeed in the ROTC program and beyond.

Cadet Farmer attended 6th Regiment as a member of Alpha Company, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout training. During CST, he served in the following leadership positions:

When asked about the highlight of his CST experience, Cadet Farmer shared:

“The highlight of my camp experience was making new friendships with people from across the nation that will last a lifetime. Growing as both a person and a leader. It was an honor to stand beside some of the most motivated cadets. I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me and always motivating me to give it my all. Above all, I want to thank God for giving me the strength and courage to continue pushing every day and keep going.”

Cadet Summer Training is designed to challenge cadets both mentally and physically while developing the leadership skills required of future Army officers. Cadet Farmer embraced every challenge, grew as both a leader and a teammate, and represented our program with pride.

Congratulations to Cadets Canada and Cadet Preston on graduating from Cadet Summer Training (CST)!

Both cadets attended 5th Regiment, where they represented the University of the Cumberlands Army ROTC program with professionalism, resilience, and outstanding leadership.

Cadet Canada was assigned to Alpha Company and served in multiple leadership positions throughout CST, including:

* Squad Leader (2 evaluations)
* Platoon Leader
* Platoon Sergeant

Cadet Canada stated that the additional leader positions he received allowed him to gain valuable leadership experience in a variety of challenging environments.

Cadet Preston was assigned to Bravo Company and served in the following leadership positions:

* Platoon Leader (2 evaluations)
* Squad Leader (2 evaluations)

When asked about the highlight of his CST experience, Cadet Canada shared:

“The highlight of my camp experience was the opportunity to build lasting relationships and network with cadets from across the country, many of whom I may serve alongside in the future as Army officers. I also valued the camaraderie we developed while spending 10 days in the field, completing missions together through the intense Kentucky heat and severe storms. Those shared challenges created unforgettable memories and strong bonds that I will carry with me throughout my military career.”

Cadet Preston reflected on his experience by saying:

“The highlight of my camp experience was the people. Being surrounded by a group of people you’ve known for such a short amount of time, yet growing so close with them. I’ve made friends that I will have for the rest of my life from these 31 days.”

Cadet Summer Training is designed to challenge cadets both mentally and physically while developing the leadership skills required of future Army officers. Cadets Canada and Preston embraced those challenges, demonstrated exceptional leadership, and represented our program with pride.
