Today we distributed nearly 400 supply bags to counselors, social workers, and psychologists with Wichita Public Schools during their inservice training!

Over the past 2 years, we’ve been intentional about expanding the ways Project Teacher serves the mental health professionals who care for students every day. Last year, through a partnership with Dr. Lyndsey Brown and Wichita State University College of Education School Counseling program, we launched our Counselor Care initiative. That collaboration helped us better understand what these professionals need and how Project Teacher can come alongside them.

This school year, we’re excited to build on that work by offering even more resources, and today we had the opportunity to share those resources directly with these incredible professionals.

We believe every student deserves to walk into school and feel like they belong. Supporting the counselors, social workers, and psychologists who help create that sense of connection is one more way we can help make that happen.

A HUGE thank you to Spangles for hosting a school supply drive at all of their locations across Kansas!

The response was incredible, and we are blown away by the generosity of Spangles customers and team members. Even better, the supplies collected will go right back out to support classrooms in ALL of the Kansas communities Spangles calls home.
We love seeing businesses step up for teachers and students.

That’s a wrap on another incredible KAKE News School Supply Landslide!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, these supplies will support hundreds of classrooms and thousands of students across the state, helping ensure educators have the tools they need to give their students the best chance to learn and succeed.

We’re so grateful to KAKE and Dillons Wichita locations for their continued support and for serving as drop-off locations, as well as Prochaska Law Firm for their generous support of the campaign.

And, of course, the biggest thank-you goes to YOU…the individuals, businesses, organizations, and neighbors who showed up and donated. Every box, notebook, pencil, backpack, and supply makes a difference in a teacher’s classroom.

Because when we invest in our teachers, we invest in our students.

Hey teachers! For many of you, today’s the first day of school… so here’s something you need to hear loud and clear: you are HEROES.

The way you show up for your students (even while juggling your own families, late nights, and early mornings) is nothing short of incredible. You don’t just teach lessons; you build confidence, open doors, and change lives.

We know the start of the year is full of big emotions, long hours, and a never-ending to-do list. Thank you for greeting your students with a smile even when you’re running on little sleep. For turning classrooms into safe, welcoming spaces. For showing up at their games, clapping at their recitals, and noticing the one who needs extra encouragement.

And when no one’s watching…when you’re grading papers after everyone’s in bed, bookmarking ideas on TikTok, writing little notes of encouragement, or bringing in snacks for a class that needs a boost…we see you. We appreciate you. We FREAKING love you!

It’s a brand new school year. You are our heroes. And…YOU GOT THIS!

Project Teacher is the only resource center in the state of Kansas that distributes schools upplies for free to teachers and their students.
