I’m proud to confirm that I am running for Sheriff as a Republican candidate. I’ve been registered as a Republican for at least 10 years, just to clear any confusion. I believe in upholding the constitution, supporting our law enforcement officers, and protecting the values that make our community strong. My commitment is to serve with integrity, professionalism, enforce the law fairly, and ensure our county remains a safe place for our families.

This campaign is about accountability, public safety, and standing up for what’s right. I look forward to earning your trust and your vote.

Enjoyed sitting and talking with all the Sheriff candidates at the debate this evening. I would like to thank everyone who tuned in or came in person, even if in support of me or whoever. Good to see people take an interest. I want to thank Darlene Price with Truth or Politics for setting up and organizing the event, Mike Mann for tech support and Stephen McKinney and the Fiscal Court for allowing the old Ambulance Service/Rescue Squad building to be used.

If elected Sheriff, my focus will be on strengthening professionalism, training, and community trust. I plan to pursue leadership and management programs to ensure the Sheriff’s Office is run efficiently, ethically, and transparently.
I will prioritize ongoing training for deputies, including de-escalation, legal updates, and officer safety through Kentucky’s Department of Criminal Justice Training. I also support Crisis Intervention Training so deputies are better equipped to handle mental health calls with care and professionalism.
Community policing will be a priority. Building relationships with citizens, schools, and local organizations is essential for effective law enforcement. I will also work closely with neighboring agencies and emergency services to improve coordination and access to resources.
Finally, I will seek out state and federal grants to fund training, equipment, and technology, bringing resources into McCreary County without placing added burden on taxpayers.
My goal is simple: to lead the Sheriff’s Office with integrity, commitment, and professionalism, and to serve the people of McCreary County with fairness and respect.

My 30 plus years experience in public service, including being a firefighter and working my way up to Chief, working as a certified EMT, starting as a dispatcher and working my way up to Assistant Director and acting Director to becoming a law enforcement officer, has taught me the importance of accountability, transparency, professionalism, the ability to lead under pressure and putting people first. Public service means showing up every day ready to serve the community, protect families, and do what’s right, even when it’s difficult.

I understand the responsibility that comes with wearing the badge and serving the public. That experience is why I’m running for McCreary County Sheriff. To lead with integrity, support our deputies, and serve every citizen with respect, while enforcing the law and protecting citizens rights.
