At the Common Council meeting on April 19th, the Council approved for the City to increase water rates. The City will need to submit for approval from the Public Service Commission (PSC), which currently is taking close to 8 months to approve. Once the PSC approves the proposed 24% cumulative increase; the City will make notifications to customers. You can expect the increase to most likely occur in January 2023. A 24% cumulative increase breaks down to the following estimates:
Residential: Increases $6.77 per 2950 gallons
Commercial: Increases $15.10 per 7809 gallons
Industrial: Increases to $50.77 per 31,667 gallons
Currently Whitewater is ranked 6th for lowest water rates in the area. I have attached comparison charts for your review. The City will do another comparison after the proposed water increase is approved from the PSC.
