Notice to Residents: Winter Road Treatment Update

The Town of Whitefield is currently experiencing a significant shortage of road salt, a situation affecting many municipalities this winter. Due to the high number of storms this season, salt suppliers are unable to meet current demand.

What This Means

Effective immediately, the Town will be operating in extreme conservation mode:

• All town roads and streets will continue to be plowed and treated with sand.

• Salt will be applied only to the steepest hills and intersections, and only after a snow event has ended and temperatures allow.

• This approach will also apply to town parking lots and sidewalks.

• Sand will be applied sparingly, as supplies have been heavily impacted by frequent snow and freezing rain events.

Please Plan Accordingly

Residents are encouraged to plan for winter driving conditions in the coming weeks.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we manage limited resources during this challenging winter season.
