FYI! Some MSO notes for your Sunday reading pleasure…
• There's a conflict on June 6 for our disc golf tournament in Emmitsburg, so the MSO event has been shifted to Sunday, June 28.
• MSO track and field coordinator Jim Pearce has submitted the proposed event schedule for this year's meet, Aug. 1-2 at Howard Community College in Columbia. Depending on the number of participants in this 2027 National Senior Games qualifying year, which could move a few things around, the schedule is almost identical to last year's.
• Our pickleball tournament has 659 players, and you have until May 11 to sign up. It's very important that out-of-state doubles players hustle over to pickleballbrackets.com to pay their entry fee and get linked up with their Maryland teammate. Don't lose your spot!
• We're adding pistol shootin' to our lineup as a tandem with the very fun trap shootin' competition. We don't have a date or many details on the pistol event yet, but both will be at the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore - Marriottsville.
• Last year, we held the men's and women's 3-on-3 basketball tournament and shooting skills competition at the impressive Community Life Center in Upper Marlboro. Everyone loved the facility, but they don't have enough courts for a National Games qualifying year, so we'll be returning to Ellicott City and Meadowbrook Athletic Complex.
• A pinch over two-thirds of our 2026 sports lineup has been scheduled and confirmed. We're getting closer. The last big event to be booked is swimming. Otherwise, powerlifting, badminton, horseshoes, the two shootin' events, and Wii bowling are awaiting dates, venue or permit confirmations.
• Psssssst! The buzz around the office is the MSO t-shirt given to each participant this year will be white. Shhhhh!
Have a Happy Super Sunday! Go Seabirds!
