Seniors Helping Seniors Boston South Shore Relationship-driven home care for older adults. Compassionate Senior caregivers. Personalized matches. Meaningful connections.

Helping families find peace of mind while changing the way home care feels. Seniors Helping Seniors Boston South Shore is led by President and CEO, Michelle Sonia and Executive Director, Michael Salerno. It was started by a drive and passion to work in and give back to the communities we grew up and now live in. Michelle grew up in Hanson and attended Notre Dame Academy in Hingham. She holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Michelle has 15 years of experience in management consulting, specifically strategic planning for health care systems. Early in her career she also worked for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Michael grew up in Hingham and is a graduate of Hingham High School. He studied public policy at UMASS/Boston. Michael has worked as a senior vice president in the banking industry for 20 years focused on strategy and retail banking. Simultaneously, he served as an elected official in his local community for 12 years. Both Michelle and Michael love working with our seniors and look forward to making a difference for them in the cities and towns we serve.

Healthy aging isn’t about checking off a list of things you’re supposed to be doing.

It can be morning coffee with a friend.

Walking through a local market and choosing what looks good for dinner.

Spending time with the people who make you laugh.
Keeping up with a favorite hobby.

Or simply having the freedom to decide how you want to spend your day.

Because aging well looks different for every person.
At Seniors Helping Seniors® Boston South Shore, that individuality matters to us. We take the time to understand the person—their interests, personality, routines and the life they want to continue living.

Our caregivers are there to support that life, not redefine it.
Maybe that means providing a ride so someone can keep going to a favorite place. Helping with a few things at home so there’s more energy for everything else. Or simply being a familiar companion to share the experience.

Because independence isn’t just about what you can do on your own. It’s also about continuing to have choices about how you live.

Healthy aging should still feel like your life.

And helping Seniors continue living it on their own terms is how we’re changing the way home care feels. ❤️

With World Alzheimer’s Day approaching next week, we’re asking our Boston and South Shore communities to take two minutes to make your voice heard. 💙

The Alzheimer’s Impact Movement is asking Congress to support the ASAP Act, which would give Medicare the authority to cover certain blood tests for Alzheimer’s disease—helping more people and families get answers sooner.

We completed the advocacy letter ourselves, and it really is easy. Click the link below, enter a few pieces of information, and much of the letter and contact information is pre-filled for you. It takes about two minutes.

👉 Send your letter to Congress here:

For the families living with Alzheimer’s today—and the millions who may face it in the years ahead—two minutes is a small way to help make a difference.

Please consider adding your voice, and share this post so others can do the same.

There’s comfort in knowing how your day usually goes.

The coffee you make the same way every morning.

The newspaper you still like to read in print.

A few minutes outside tending the garden.

The show you never miss before dinner.

To someone else, these things might not seem especially important.

But they’re not someone else’s routines. They’re yours.
They’re pieces of a life built over years—preferences, habits and little traditions that help a home feel like your home and a day feel like your day.

That’s something we believe good home care should respect.
At Seniors Helping Seniors® Boston South Shore, our caregivers take the time to get to know the person they’re helping—their personality, their interests, their stories and, yes, the little things they like to do every day.

Because care shouldn’t come into someone’s life and start changing everything.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing a caregiver can do is help someone keep doing the things that already matter to them.
It’s one of the ways a relationship built on familiarity, empathy and understanding can help a Senior remain independent—and feel comfortable being themselves in the home they love.
Because when care feels personal, home can keep feeling like home.

And helping protect those familiar pieces of someone’s life is part of how we’re changing the way home care feels. ❤️

There’s a big difference between doing things for someone and helping someone continue doing life their way.

That difference matters.

Maybe it’s making lunch together while talking about a favorite recipe.

Running a few errands and taking the long way home because there’s a story to finish.

Helping with some things around the house—and laughing together while you do it.

Or simply being there on a day when having someone familiar walk through the door makes the day feel a little better.
These may be called non-medical home care services.
But they rarely feel like just services when the relationship is right.

At Seniors Helping Seniors® Boston South Shore, we thoughtfully match Seniors with caregivers who bring their own life experience, personality and perspective into the relationship.

Because getting a few things done is important.

Knowing the person beside you matters even more.

That’s the kind of care that can help someone remain independent, connected and comfortable in the home—and the life—they’ve built.

That’s how we’re changing the way home care feels.

After a loss, even familiar days can feel different.

The morning coffee.
The quiet afternoon.
A routine that used to be shared.

Grief can change the rhythm of everyday life in ways other people may not always see. And while there may not be words that make those moments easier, having someone nearby can make them feel a little less lonely.

Someone to sit with over coffee.
Someone to take a walk with.
Someone to share a story with—or simply share the quiet.

Companionship isn’t about trying to fill the space left by someone who mattered. It’s about making sure a Senior doesn’t have to move through every difficult moment alone.

At Seniors Helping Seniors® Boston South Shore, we believe some of the most meaningful support happens in these ordinary, human moments.

Because sometimes care isn’t about doing more.
Sometimes, it’s simply about being there.

And that’s another way we’re changing the way home care feels. ❤️
