As there is conversation about bringing AI data centers to Holmes County, we need to carefully weigh the real impacts it could have on our community.

As a farmer by trade, I care deeply about our working lands and the agricultural heritage that supports both Holmes County, Florida, and our country as a whole. I’m all for responsible economic development that brings good jobs and helps strengthen our local economy but it has to be done in a way that protects what makes our county special.

Our greatest strengths are our farms, forests, natural resources, and that rural way of life we all value here in Holmes County!

Any big project like this needs to be looked at closely with that in mind. We need clear, honest answers up front on things like land use and how it affects farming, water use, power needs, what it will cost taxpayers for infrastructure, and how it impacts neighboring property owners.

My priority is always protecting our county first and owe it to our residents to have a fully open and transparent process, so everyone understands the long-term effects that this could have.

I look forward to hearing from you and continuing this important conversation at tomorrow’s County Commission meeting.

Today we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We remember the fallen heroes from across our nation whose courage and service built the America we cherish today.

To their families: your loved ones will never be forgotten. Thank you for their service and your sacrifice.

May we always live lives worthy of their courage.

After receiving several complaints about the new bridge on Peak Road, which was built by a contractor awarded through an open bid process, I met with my foreman on-site this morning to observe the issues firsthand. While driving across the bridge myself, it only took one trip to understand the concerns residents were reporting.

I immediately contacted the engineer to request assistance in getting the contractor back out to address the raised runners on the bridge and develop a solution to correct the problem. The contractor has agreed to send crews back out to attempt repairs.

The contractor is scheduled to return on Thursday, May 7, although rain is currently in the forecast, so there is a possibility of delays depending on the weather.

In the meantime, my District 2 crew applied lime rock to both ends of the bridge this morning to help improve crossing conditions and address immediate safety concerns.

Please be patient as we work through these issues. We recognize the problems and are committed to getting them resolved as quickly as possible.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week 🍎

This week is especially meaningful to me and my family. My wife, Nikki, is a teacher, my niece Stephanie is a teacher, and my grandmother, Marvell Clark, served as a teacher’s aide. I’ve seen firsthand the time, patience, and heart it takes to shape and support our students every day.

Teachers are truly the backbone of our schools and our community. The impact you make reaches far beyond the classroom and lasts a lifetime in the lives of our children.

These cookies are a small token of appreciation. It doesn’t come close to all that you give, but it is shared with sincere gratitude.

Thank you for all you do. Our community is better because of you!

What a great experience today! I had the chance to sit in with my fellow Holmes County Commissioners during the Florida 250th Freedom Tour and watch Ron DeSantis unveil a monument honoring George Washington. Moments like this remind you just how important it is to preserve our history and pass it on to the next generation. 🇺🇸

Update 04/08 ** Clearly, the sound system did not work the best at our last meeting on 04/07, and we will be working to ensure we can be heard clearly during future meetings. **

Thankful for the new sound equipment that has been added to the County Commissioner meeting room. This is a big step toward making sure our meetings can be heard clearly, helping reduce confusion and prevent miscommunication.

I was proud to be one of the 4 out of 5 commissioners who voted yes on this improvement. I believe strongly that the county’s voice matters, and every resident deserves the opportunity to hear and understand what’s being discussed.

I would like to personally invite everyone to attend or join online for tomorrow night’s meeting at 6 PM. During the meeting, the spoiled dirt policy will be discussed along with other important county matters. My goal is to have a productive and effective discussion as we continue working toward a solution that serves the best interest of our entire county.

Your voice matters, and I encourage you to stay involved!
