National Public Works Week 2026 is our time to shine!

“Public works professionals are the silent workers steadily doing their jobs for the benefit of their communities. Their work often goes unnoticed—except when there’s a crisis—but if it weren’t for these dedicated people, communities would suffer. Each year, we highlight these workers during National Public Works Week, giving the public an opportunity to recognize and celebrate them.”

Outstanding work! Well-deserved recognition. 👏🏻🎉

Congratulations to our Stormwater Department and team on receiving the Ohio Stormwater Association's 2026 Program Excellence Award for our MS4 program and Agricultural Ditch Restoration Projects. This is a testament to our office's work to meet and exceed requirements, implement the best practices and ensure accountability across our permit areas.

An MS4 permit is a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) authorization required for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s) to discharge stormwater into surface waters. It mandates that operators—cities, counties, or DOTs—implement a Storm Water Management Program (SWMP) with six minimum control measures to reduce pollution in runoff.

This award is proof, not only are we doing things right here in Lucas County, we're setting the standard and example for all counties across the state.
