I have had the privilege of working with Alice on Westerville Special Olympics events at South for the last several years. Her work in our community is one of the things that make Westerville such a special place. It was lovely getting to celebrate her retirement last week. I love when my school and city work overlap like this. Congratulations Alice!

I got to spend the day in Dearborn Michigan with Dr. Hassan Jeffries to cap off our OSU K-12 Communities of Practice-Civil Rights program. We visited the Henry Ford Museum. What an incredible place! Highlights include THE Rosa Parks bus and the Jackson home, where MLK and many others were anchored during the civil rights movement (The House By The Side of the Road, it's a book and you should read it.) It wasn't a replica, it's the actual house, and the actual chair MLK was photographed in, and the TV he was watching. They deconstructed it in Selma and reconstructed it up here. Incredible.

This morning Eddie and I were able to volunteer with Seeds of Caring Columbus, a wonderful community service group with a focus on kids. They partnered with Westerville's Parks department to mulch First Responders Park. Thank you to this great group and Westerville Parks and Rec for facilitating this opportunity for our youngest residents to learn the value of giving back to our community.
