Westbrook PD was well-represented last week at the Westbrook Community Night at the Portland Sea Dogs game. Corporal Zipporah Velasco, Officer Brett Morava and Officer Marcus Doucette represented the PD. As you'll see, Officer Morava even made a new friend. In addition, several officers were able to attend with their families and enjoyed watching the Sea Dogs win big!

WESTBROOK TOGETHER DAYS INFORMATION

The annual Westbrook Together Days festival continues today. A few things that we want to let every know about.

The parade is this morning. To facilitate the parade, Bridge Street will be closed between Dodge Street and Brown Street starting at 9:30 AM. The entire parade route (Bridge Street from Dodge Street to Main Street, and Main Street from Mechanic Street to Capt. Hartley Drive) will close at 9:50 AM and remain closed until the parade is over. The parade route will also be marked as no parking for the morning.

With thousands of people attending the festival, we remind motorists to drive slowly and cautiously through the area and to be alert. We ask that pedestrians use the marked crosswalks.

WESTBROOK, MAINE

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announces the arrest of a Westbrook man and a Bridgton woman for aggravated drug trafficking charges.

ARRESTED:

Amanuel A. Sentayehu, 29, of Westbrook charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled “W” Drugs (Co***ne Base)

Aria A. Pomerleau, 30, of Bridgton charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled “W” Drugs (Co***ne Base), Falsifying Physical Evidence, as well as two outstanding arrest warrants (failure to appear).

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, agents from MDEA’s Cumberland District Task Force initiated an investigation into a hotel at the Portland/Westbrook line. Agents had received information from the public stating there was suspected drug trafficking at that location.

MDEA agents coordinated with members of the Westbrook Police Department as well as the Portland Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU). While monitoring the area, two individuals were identified as they entered a vehicle and left the location. Westbrook Police subsequently stopped the vehicle on Larrabee Road in Westbrook.

A roadside investigation was initiated, and several suspicious items were observed in plain view. Agents and Westbrook Police located and seized 363 grams of suspected Co***ne Base (Crack), approximately $20,000.00 in suspected drug proceeds, as well as several other items indicative of drug trafficking. Co***ne Base (Crack) currently sells for between $80.00-$120.00 per gram on the street.

Amanuel Sentayehu was arrested during the traffic stop and transported to the Cumberland County Jail where he is being held on $15,000.00 cash bail. Sentayehu is expected to make his first appearance in court on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Aria Pomerleau was also arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail where she is being held on $32,500.00 cash bail. Pomerleau is expected to make her first appearance in court on Friday, May 29, 2026.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The MDEA stands committed to working with all federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners in order to continue to identify and disrupt drug trafficking organizations who are attempting to distribute illicit drugs like fentanyl, co***ne, and methamphetamine in the State of Maine.

If you or someone you know suffers from substance use disorder, please call 211 or text your zip code to 898-211 for a list of resources available in your area.
If you have information about this investigation or the illegal sale of drugs in your community, you are urged to contact the Maine Drug Enforcement office closest to you or by texting MDEA to TIP411 (847411) or by calling the MDEA tip-line at 1-800-452-6457.

2025 Chief Pierre Harnois Employee of the Year - Corporal Nick Wrigley

The Westbrook Police Department is proud to recognize Corporal Nick Wrigley as our Chief Pierre Harnois Employee of the Year! Corporal Wrigley served as an Acting Patrol Sergeant for 2025. He performed great in this role, supervising several critical incidents and building a strong, cohesive patrol unit. It was not uncommon to find officers who wanted to work overtime on Corporal Wrigley's shift because they would have the opportunity to work with him.

Corporal Wrigley became a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and Forensic Phlebotomist, both of which are demanding positions requiring a lot of work, training, and ongoing requirements. These efforts greatly aid us in our impaired driving enforcement, of which Corporal Wrigley is a leader in.

Corporal Wrigley stepped up countless times to take open shifts to help fill critical staffing needs and spare other officers from order-ins. Corporal Wrigley was a leader and key performer throughout the year. Congratulations Corporal Wrigley!
