This is the official Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) Army Education Center page. The Education Center provides a variety of educational opportunities to enhance the quality of life for Soldiers, Family Members and Veterans. Geographic area of responsibility includes all counties in Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota, as well as five counties in eastern Missouri and the St. Customer population: RIA A

CES supports 7,000+ active duty Soldiers, to include mobilized Guard and Reserve, 5,000 Department of Defense Civilians; 500 adult family members, 200 military retirees and other qualified individuals. The Education Center is part of the Army Continuing Education System (ACES). ACES programs promote lifelong learning opportunities and sharpen the competitive edge of Army, 2014 and beyond. ACES is committed to excellence in service, innovation, and deployability.

🌿 From homeschool to hands-on research — Sachi DeWinter is proof that your path doesn’t have to be predictable to lead somewhere amazing.

As an Eastern Iowa Community College student, Sachi found confidence in the classroom and connection in the field, even discovering a surprising love for science while studying purple martins at Nahant Marsh.

💬 “Even though I was the only intern who wasn’t a STEM major, I felt like I belonged there.”

She’s double-majoring in history and anthropology, has presented research in D.C., and is keeping her options open — all while building community at MCC through Civic Chorale, tutoring, and Phi Theta Kappa.
