PSA:
The Interfaith House in West Union has changed Management and has a new Application. Please, pre-filled out, (if possible) to save time when going there.
Interfaith is only open 2 days a month now, but families are allowed to receive food boxes each day instead of only being eligible to pick up food once a month. They no longer have the clients go through the aisles to "shop", but have pre-packaged boxes ready to go. They still provide meat and fresh produce.

Not everyone wears a suit to build a nation. 🇺🇸

Some wake up before sunrise. Some work through the heat, the cold, the long nights, and the hard days. They build our homes, repair our roads, care for our families, keep our cities moving, and make everyday life possible.

But Labor Day itself has a history worth remembering:

📜 September 5, 1882 — About 10,000 workers gathered in New York City for America’s first Labor Day parade, organized by the Central Labor Union.

🏛️ February 21, 1887 — Oregon became the first state to legally recognize Labor Day as a holiday. Other states soon followed.

🇺🇸 June 28, 1894 — President Grover Cleveland signed legislation making the first Monday of September a national legal holiday dedicated to American workers.

More than a century later, Labor Day is still a reminder that the strength of a country isn't built only in offices or government buildings — it's built by millions of people who show up every day and do the work.

Every job matters. Every worker matters. Every hardworking hand helps build America.

Honoring those immigrants, women, Veterans and workers who made a fuss and created the 8 hour workday which we are taking a break from today!
It's so easy to think only of this as a day off work or the end of summer, but let's actually remember where it all started. Brave folks faced losing their jobs to march and protest the working conditions and demand attention to the concerns of their families. Children were working in factories expected to do the jobs of adults.
As we close out this labor day, let's do so in true honor of those before us.
