Two who have had a large role in leading and supporting me in pottery and wood firing. My dear gal Lily F.. I am lucky to watch our creative lives unfold in friendship and Peter B who offered the experience of wood firing in a way that has continued to shape my life.

When I make these small forms I have such fun throwing bodies and necks off the hump. Then playing mix and match before attaching the two parts of each bottle together.

I am slowly back more to The great state that is New York, while still finding a home down here. I make work casually(but fiercely?)- I say this because my passion is there in the exploration of clay but I have a low life overhead currently (without much to financially support besides me and my cat!) I do a lot of practicing and recycling with the same clay. fire mostly in the winter months. Sing a lot of songs in between and I would like to raise a few dairy cows sometime in the near future.

You are here on Instagram with me, Emma Silverstein, this week! My work will be shown at 28A Clay during tour May 21-22. I will be posting some photos of my pottery and thoughts around.. I’m pictured here (by M.S. Cecil) sitting at the mouth of a wood kiln up on Hurricane Rd. in Keene, NY, where I was firing (mostly plates! hundreds of plates!) as a resident/tech at Craigardan.
