Foster Spotlight: Meet Starr 💡🐾

Meet Starr! The cutest girl ever! Starr is 5 years old and she gets along well with kids and other dogs! Unfortunately, she isn't as open about cats so she would do best in a cat free household.

Starr is housebroken and very respectful of the home and the things in it! Her foster says that she's even crate trained if needed and she's such a love bug!

Starr loves attention and whatever comes with it. Whether you're giving her a bath, snuggling on the couch, or playing, all extra attention is good attention for Starr!

Starr has been with her foster for a while, and they would love for Starr to find a loving home since she's doing so well with them and is all around such a sweet girl.

On September 11, 2001, countless heroes walked into places most of us can only imagine; and they didn’t do it alone.

At least 300 dogs were part of the 9/11 response, searching through the rubble, looking for survivors, helping their handlers, and offering comfort to the firefighters, first responders, and rescue workers who were working tirelessly around them. Some worked until they physically couldn’t anymore.

Today, we remember the dogs whose names we know: Bretagne, Trakr, Apollo, Riley, Roselle, Salty, and so many others; but we also remember the hundreds of dogs whose stories may never be known.

We remember the firefighters who ran toward the danger.
The rescue teams who refused to stop searching.
The handlers who worked side by side with their dogs.
The first responders who gave everything they had to bring people home.
And we remember every person, every dog, and every hero who was lost.

Today, and every September 11, we remember.

Even when the shelter is closed, we make sure that all of our animals still get their enrichment. They have no idea that the shelter is closed and we want to keep it that way! 🐕🐈

‼ Notice of Animal Care and Control facility closure to the public ‼

As part of the ongoing renovation project at Palm Beach County’s Public Safety Department Animal Care and Control Division, the facility’s water lines will be upgraded. To complete this work efficiently, Animal Care and Control will be closed to the public on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The facility will reopen to the public on Friday, September 11, 2026, and normal public operations will resume.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we continue making improvements to the facility.

💡🐶 Adoptable Spotlight: Roco!

Meet Roco! Roco is a sweet, energetic boy who is looking for a nice, comfy home to call his own.

Roco came to us with old wounds on his back. But despite everything he’s been through, Roco is still such a happy, playful guy who loves running around the yard, sniffing everything, and making friends with other dogs!

Roco is also a Healing Hearts dog, meaning he is heartworm positive. However, his adoption fee covers his heartworm treatment through our Healing Hearts Program!

This sweet boy deserves a loving home where he can relax, heal, play, and finally feel safe.
