Why are County Commissioners and Joe Abruzzo not using tourism bed taxes to build new stadiums and arenas? Because they are maxed out. We have a $240,000,000 debt service on the new wpb baseball stadium and another $178,000,000 for renovations to Palm Beach Gardens Stadium.

What is their slight of hand trick, make local tax payers pay new debt on pet tourism projects like a new flag football arena.

In November we will see a $280,000,000 bond request for these tourism expenses. Vote no and require bed taxes to cover these costs, not PBC residents. This would add $30 annually to every household in PBC.

So PBCs Office of Inspector General had a department budget of $4,000,000, and only were able to find $72,000 of questionable waste? Tax payers would have saved $4m if they didn't exist.

Fun fact... it takes 680 homes in Palm Beach County to earn enough property tax revenue to pay our County Administrators $500,000+ annual compensation package. We would be defending against property tax reform to Joe Abruzzo.

One person makes $139,000 a year overseeing an entire State. The other person makes $450,000 base salary, 15% towards retirement annually, an $80,000 a year car allowance and has never worked a day in private sector. Yes, we are going to tend to believe the former has a bit more motivation to be truthful on how PBC tax payer dollars are spent and moreso, saved with property tax reform.

Florida's Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia held a press conference in Boca Raton this morning on 'wasteful' spending in Palm Beach County.

Imagine trying to manufacture this as a revenue problem so hard you attempt to distract from reality Counties have a spending problem.

“Homeowners might pay less in tax, but renters, snow birds and businesses would end up paying more,” the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board wrote.

This is another case of local officials sense of entitlement with your tax dollars.

PSL tax payers did not receive consistent trash service and were billed by PSL for it and those taxes and fees held. Then officials sued waste pro and won. But do they redistribute the money directly back to tax payers as they should? Of course not. They will gain a profit on the backs of those who paid for trash service. Help it make sense.

Port St. Lucie homeowners could soon learn more about what city leaders plan to do with a $24 million settlement from former trash collection company Waste Pro.

Now learning disgraced former city mayor of Stuart, Thomas Campenni who was forced to resign, is now leading charge to get property tax reform changed on ballot. First, not sure how Stuart elected a relatively new transplant from NYC to a commission seat, but worse, how desperate for relevance are you to do this in retirement and attempt to hurt same tax payers who elected you?

When the County wants to impress their residents and pat themselves on the back, the first playbook calls for speaking of the positive economic impact.

What you will not hear this time from our BCC is that property tax reform will have a $325,000,000 positive economic impact to the county. That is tax payer money spent on small businesses, hospitality etc. Only this time by choice vs theft.
