πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Have to compliment PBC for finding creative ways to argue justifying higher taxes, or worse, continuing to increase them. Our PBC parks dept has a $170m annual budget to manage 86 county parks. The 111 acre park below is one of the cheapest to maintain at only 0.44% of that budget or $750k annually. They allow a non-profit to operate events there and do what County inebt to do which is showcase their park. Yet we would encourage public to call our cowardly Admin Abruzzo out and ask to privatize all parks. They never would as it employs 10% of their county staff and $68m in salaries for admins and other employees. But would certainly open the conversation to the waste and abuse within parks department. The article is simply a political weapon to try to get public to support higher property taxes and approve a $280,000,000 park bond come November. Don't be fooled.

A battle is brewing over the future of the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center as Palm Beach County officials consider privatizing the public park to cut costs, a move that has sparked fierce opposition from the local equestrian community.

And she still won a primary. Help it make sense. This level of entitlement never belongs in public office. The public is certainly supporting her service in this case.

Columnist Pat Beall recounts the scandal-plagued tenure of Palm Beach County Commissioner Sara Baxter, who nevertheless convincingly won her Republican primary race.

From 2018 to 2025, PBC residents saw an 8.81% increase in their per capita income. Going from an average of $48,121 to $52,359.

In that same period, PBC government approved themselves a 114% increase in their budget. Going from $4.5bln to $9.6bln.

While there is so much more, this should be the stopping point conversation of any further requests for bonds, property tax funding or other official pet project in the County.

In 2018, Palm Beach County had $943m in total bond debt. We have grown that to $2.9 billion in just 6 years. Now in November they are putting another $550 million to vote to add to that number. All at a time revenue will likely be decreasing. Say no to all new bonds in November and demand we pay down current debt load first!

Let us recap Riviera Beach CRA waste, fraud and abuse finally coming to light. This is just from 2018 to today:
Employees jumped from 6 up to 29. That is more people than 8 other CRAs in PBC combined. Their budget went from $14.5m to $32.4m. They are under FBI investigation as article eludes and now want personal liabilty defense paid by tax payers.

Shirley Lanier says the FBI subpoena concerns Riviera Beach redevelopment projects, a federal grand jury is still at work and her attorney has stopped working because she cannot pay him. FULL STORY ⬇️

Perhaps our OIG and Ethics Commission is looking the other way, but thought they would want to be aware.
WPB Mayor and spouse, Lorna Anderson, were married in 2018 just after she opened her consulting business, Greywood Consulting Corp. What later in 2024 became questionable was a $500,000+ contract with Palm Beach County Water Utilities who have a direct relationship with city of WPB. We are hoping at a minimum, the air can be cleared, the proper conflict of interest reports had been filed and all cleared thru our own commission as well as Florida Commission on ethics. 🀞

As we welcome back students here in Palm Beach County, a few good reminders on upcoming education millage rate vote.
PBCSD currently only allocates 39% of their General Fund towards classroom costs. That is lower than DADE (57%), Broward, (60%), and St. Lucie and Martin Counties. In fact, PBCSD only allocates 25% ($1.4 bln) of their total Budget ($5.9 bln) to classroom expenses. So when you hear only of teachers and students needing more $$$, know they already have plenty, they simply choose to spend majority of it elsewhere.

On topic of PBC Parks, few realize that when new homes and businesses are established, those impact fees paid by builders dedicated to parks ($122,088,000 since 2016) are only directed to county parks vs the other 200+ municipal parks we attend. So the impact fee passed on to residents never gets to the city park you may be enjoying. That needs to change and be re-directed locally.
