Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was created by State law in 1984 to provide fire and emergency medical services to portions of the unincorporated area and select municipal areas of Palm Beach County. These areas are designated within two Municipal Service Taxing Units (MSTU's) which were created to fund this service. We cover 1,822 square miles and provide services to approximately 807,729residents

throughout the County. In addition to providing fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation and emergency medical (advanced life support) services, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue provides a number of other services related to protecting the lives and property of its citizens. The prevention of fire before it starts is of paramount importance in effectively protecting life and property. Public education, annual inspection of businesses and ensuring strict code compliance on newly constructed buildings are all methods utilized by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to reduce fire incidents.

Today, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue was honored to take part in Trauma Survivors Day at Delray Medical Center.
The event kicked off with the Honor Guard and PBCFirefighters PIpes and Drums. This event brought together trauma survivors, their families, hospital staff, and first responders in recognizing the teamwork that saves lives every day.
Listening to survivors share their stories was a reminder that trauma care is a true continuum that begins at the scene of an accident, continuing through the trauma bays, the intensive care and step-down units, rehabilitation, and ultimately getting patients to return home and back to their lives.
Division Chief Gibson from , who also serves as President of the EMS Providers Association of Palm Beach County, spoke about how new tools in prehospital trauma care including whole blood, ultrasound, plasma, and other advanced techniques continue to improve patient care and survival.
PBCFR’s Lt. Garay shared that events like this are all about healing, hope, and celebrating the strength of survivors and their families.
A big thank you to everyone at Delray Medical Center and all of the trauma teams who help make these survivor stories possible every single day.

Today marks two years since PBCFR lost Driver/Operator Carlos Miranda to cancer. We remember Carlos for his service, dedication, and friendship.
In the time since his passing, PBCFR, along with Fire Departments across the nation have continued to place a stronger focus on firefighter health, cancer prevention, and long term well-being. From improved decontamination processes, greater awareness of fitness, sleep, stress management and mental wellness, we all work to better protect those who protect others. PBCFR is proud to have been recognized as a Gold Helmet Department through the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer earlier this month. This reflects our department’s determination in advancing firefighter cancer research for future generations.
Carlos, we miss you, and we remember your impact on all of us.
