Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. Let us pause to remember the lives lost and honor the first responders and everyday heroes who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy. We continue to hold their families and loved ones in our hearts and remember the strength and unity our nation showed that day.

On September 3, I had the pleasure of attending the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District’s groundbreaking for North Park, alongside Malcolm Butters, Boca Raton Mayor Andy Thomson, School Board Member Gloria Branch, Boca Raton Council Members Yvette Drucker and Stacy Sipple, and Beach & Park Commissioners Susan Vogelgesang, Craig Ehrnst, Robert Rollins, and Steven Engel.

The east side of the park will include more than five miles of walking and riding trails, a dog park, a playground, and exercise equipment along select trails. The park is also home to, Boca Paddle by City Pickle, a 100,000-square-foot, 25-court indoor racquet club being developed through a separate public-private partnership with Butters Construction & Development. We were even given a sneak peek tour of the facility, which is expected to open in November.

Excited for this wonderful investment in our community’s parks, recreation, and quality of life!

This was such a fun experience! I had the opportunity to record a podcast at PodPopuli Boca with Kartik Krishnaiyer, Managing Editor of The Boca Raton Tribune on August 31st.

We had a great conversation about a variety of topics related to the Palm Beach County Commission and the issues that impact our community. Kartik brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to these discussions, having followed the Commission closely since the late 1990s and early 2000s, which made for a really engaging conversation.

The podcast will be available in early October, so be sure to check it out! I’ll share the link as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you to Kartik and the team at PodPopuli for having me. I’m looking forward to everyone hearing our conversation!

What an honor it was to host the The Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County’s 2026 Mayors’ Ball: Boots & Bourbon!

A heartfelt thank you to the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County, especially CEO Alexandria Ayala and Board President
Melissa McKinlay, Former Palm Beach County Commissioner, as well as the dedicated partners, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this special evening possible.

The Mayors’ Ball is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together in support of initiatives focused on housing stability, supportive services, coordinated care, and long-term solutions for vulnerable residents throughout Palm Beach County.

A special thank you to this year’s Mayors’ Ball Event Chairs, Colonel Eric Coleman and Marybel Coleman, and Todd Bonlarron and Rachael Bonlarron.

And, of course, thank you to the mayors from across Palm Beach County who joined us and showed their support: Steve Wilson, Andy Thomson, Christy Maasbach, Betty Resch, Karen Lythgoe, Lisa Interlandi, Dana Middleton, Jeff Hmara, Joe Kyles, Molly Young, Michael Napoleone, JohnPaul O'Connor, and Keith James.

I’m also grateful to my fellow County Commissioners Maria Marino, Gregg Weiss, Joel Flores, Maria Sachs, and Bobby Powell Jr. for joining me for a fun and meaningful evening.

It was wonderful to see so many of our community leaders, partners, and residents come together in support. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a memorable evening!

On August 28, I had the honor of attending the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue 2024 & 2025 Annual Awards Ceremony.

More than 500 members joined County Commissioner Gregg Weiss and me, along with County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo, Fire Chief Patrick Kennedy, Chief David Woodside, and county staff, for an evening of recognition and celebration.

It was an opportunity to come together, celebrate accomplishments, and recognize the outstanding work of our Fire Rescue personnel. Most importantly, it was a night to honor the dedicated men and women who make Palm Beach County Fire Rescue what it is. Their courage, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community do not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients, and thank you to every member of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue for all you do each day to keep our residents and communities safe!

What a great night at Boca Regional Chamber Festival Days: Lip Sync Battle at The Studio at Mizner Park on August 27! Community members took the stage for an incredibly fun evening benefiting the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Association and supporting the arts and cultural programs that enrich our community.

Congratulations to the winning trio, Blondes Taking Boca By Storm, who brought down the house with their performance of “It’s Raining Men”! All of the performers did an amazing job and made the evening so much fun.

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces, including Rosie Inguanzo Martin, Sarah Pearson, Max Pearson, Donna Chirico Biase, Peg Anderson, Pamela Higer-Polani, Christen Ritchey, Troy McLellan, April Lewis, Trisha Ramudo, and so many others!

Events like this are a great reminder of the incredible people, organizations, and community spirit that make Palm Beach County such a special place.

On Tuesday, August 25, I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Annual Chopstick Challenge as part of Boca Regional Chamber Festival Days. The event was held in partnership with HabCenter Boca Raton, Red Pine Boca Restaurant & Bar, and Wyndham Hotel Boca Raton.

The talented “Chopstick Jockeys” included Steven Clarfield, Jan Savarick, Dr. Van P Williams, Nicole Grims, Chi Chan, and this year’s winner, Jerry Fedele!

The HabCenter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adults with differences to live with dignity, respect, and independence. It was great to support such an important cause while enjoying a fun and memorable evening with the community.

It was also wonderful seeing Sherry A. Henry, CEO of the HabCenter, along with Marcia Shatzman, Pamela Higer-Polani, Fran Durst Nachlas, Nathan E Nachlas, Paige Kornblue, Robert S Weinroth, and so many others who came out to support the event.

At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on August 25, I had the privilege of declaring August 2026 as Veterans and First Responders Month in Palm Beach County.

The safety, security, and strength of our communities depend on the unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifice of our military veterans and first responders. Our veterans answered the call to defend our nation and our freedoms, and many continue to serve as leaders, mentors, and pillars of our communities. Our law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and dispatchers selflessly answer the call each day to protect lives, preserve property, and keep our communities safe.

Thank you to all who have served, including members of our own Palm Beach County family: County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo, County Commissioner Joel Flores, and County Engineer David Ricks. I am grateful for their service to our country and for the work they continue to do on behalf of our residents.
