Community Policing is the backbone of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station. Responding to everything from armed robberies to noisy animals, large fights to traffic collisions... You can rest assured that when you call 911 in West Hollywood, Sheriff's Deputies are on their way! While in West Hollywood, you may see patrol Deputies working in cars, on footbeats, on motorcycles, on bicycles, and occasionally even on horseback for special events. We have Deputies that are specially trained in hate crime investigations, domestic violence, Russian community affairs, gay and le***an issues, transgender issues, and more. We are proud that our experience and our Deputies are as diverse as the community we serve.

🚨 See lights and hear sirens? Pull to the right and stop.

When an emergency vehicle approaches from behind, safely move to the right side of the road and stop. If you’re already in an intersection, continue through the intersection first, then pull to the right and stop.

Avoid stopping in the middle of the roadway or continuing to drive as if the emergency vehicle isn’t there. Doing so can delay first responders and create additional hazards for everyone on the road.

Someone may be waiting for help. Giving emergency vehicles a clear path can make a critical difference.

Pull right. Stop. Let them pass.

Deputies stopped a tow truck near La Brea and Fountain after spotting red flags for bandit towing. No company name or logo. Soliciting a driver at the scene of a traffic collision.

The truck’s registration had been expired since 2014, and the driver was found with a police scanner, a device bandit tow operators often use to beat licensed companies to a crash scene.

The driver was arrested for illegal towing and possession of a police scanner.

If you’re ever in a collision, protect yourself. Only work with a tow company your insurance provider or the responding deputy recommends. Legitimate operators display a company name and permit number. Never let a truck take your vehicle if you didn’t call for it.

Great work by our deputies for catching this before anyone got scammed.

Have a safe day, West Hollywood.

Temperatures are climbing, and hot pavement can be dangerous for your dog’s paws. ☀️🐾

A simple rule of thumb: if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Press the back of your hand to the pavement. If you can’t hold it there for 7 seconds, it’s too hot to walk.

Best times to walk your dog? Early morning or evening, when the pavement has cooled.

Watch for signs of overheating - excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or disorientation mean it’s time for shade, water, and rest.

Never leave pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

Stay safe out there, West Hollywood — for you and your pets.
