The West Haven Fire Department is honored to serve every person in this city. Every call, every address, every resident, without exception and without regard to race, color, creed, religion, or national origin. When you dial 911, no one on our Fire Apparatus asks who you are before they go to work. That is who we are; it has always been who we are, and it will never change.

We are addressing this directly because it needs to be addressed. Content is currently circulating on another page that uses our department's name. That page does not speak for the West Haven Fire Department. It is not affiliated with us in any way. The views posted there are not our views; they are not the views of our members, and they are the opposite of what this department stands for. We reject them without qualification.

We are reviewing every available option, including legal remedies, to prevent further confusion about who is authorized to speak for this department.

If you want official information from your fire department, this is where you will find it. We are not interested in being represented by anyone who does not share that standard.

Shout-out West Haven Professional Firefighters- IAFF Local 1198 stopped by and got some Lemonade from a little youth pop up stand on Kelsey Ave in West Haven earlier today 07/17/2026. Was also reported that an officer with West Haven Police Department stopped by as well! 👍🫡♥️🚒💙🚔

For 33 years, Deputy Chief of Operations Ron Pisani has answered the call with unwavering dedication, professionalism, and pride.

Beginning his fire service career with Savin Rock Hose Company 4 before joining the West Haven Center District on February 16, 1993, Chief Pisani devoted more than three decades to protecting the residents of our city. Throughout his career, he steadily rose through the ranks—serving nine years as a firefighter before his promotion to Lieutenant in 2002, then Captain in 2020, and ultimately Deputy Chief of Operations in 2021.

His leadership has helped shape generations of firefighters, strengthen our department, and ensure that the Center District remains ready to answer every call for service. Whether on the fireground, in the station, or mentoring those who followed in his footsteps, Chief Pisani led by example and earned the respect of everyone around him.

As he closes this remarkable chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for his 33 years of distinguished service, sacrifice, and commitment to the City of West Haven.

From all of us at the West Haven Center District Fire Department, thank you, Chief Pisani. Congratulations on your well-earned retirement, and we wish you and your family nothing but health, happiness, and the very best in the years ahead.

On a powerful morning at West Haven High School, reality was brought to the forefront in a way no classroom ever could.

Students gathered not for a lesson in textbooks—but for a lesson in life.

A full-scale mock crash demonstration unfolded before them, a coordinated effort involving all three West Haven Fire Department districts, working side by side with West Haven Police Department, American Medical Response of New Haven, West Haven Professional 911 Dispatchers - IAFF Local 5127, and community partners including West Haven Funeral Home and Bruneau’s Garage Inc..

Together, they transformed a school parking lot into a scene no one ever wants to encounter—yet one that happens far too often.

The message was clear.

The consequences of impaired driving… distracted driving… reckless decisions behind the wheel… are not theoretical. They are immediate. They are devastating. And too often—they are final.
