West Falls, New York

West Falls, New York West Falls is a hamlet within the Town of Aurora, NY. It is served by the West Falls Fire Company and the West Falls-Colden Community Library.

West Falls traces its history to the early 1800s. The community was known in its early days as Florence, but changed its name to West Falls when the area got its own post office in 1849 (there was already another Florence, NY at the time). Among the organizations in West Falls today are the West Falls Fire Company, the West Falls-Colden Community Library, and the West Falls Conservation Society.

The results are in: four percent of eligible voters participated in early voting this past June in Erie County and it cost taxpayers $66 for each early vote cast. The Erie County Board of Elections website says that there are nearly 620,000 registered voters in 2023. In 2019, when early voting was first enacted, there were 580,000.

Marisa Riggi has been named as the fifth executive director of the Western New York Land Conservancy. The Getzville native holds a bachelors degree in political science with minors in environmental science and sociology from SUNY Geneseo, which she earned in 2009. She continued her graduate studies at the University of Vermont, earning a master’s degree in natural resources.
