Chester County Parks + Preservation works to create and protect an environment where residents and visitors can enjoy the value of open lands, stewardship, and environmental and economic benefits from preservation in the form of farms, preserves, parks, and trails so critical natural resources, quality of life, and sense of place are preserved in Chester County. Agriculture – We work to preserve a

gricultural lands to support local farmers, strengthen the agricultural economy, and protect natural and historic resources through prime farmland preservation. Open Lands – We partner with land trusts and municipalities to permanently preserve open lands, protect natural resources, and provide public access to nature. Parks + Trails – We engage the community to be out in nature through a variety of programs and events that promote health and wellness while educating and preserving natural, cultural, historic, and recreational resources.

Have you met Edna and Earl? This precious pair is on loan to us from Wyebrook Farm for the summer. They are three-month-old Hampshire cross mixes. You can usually find them snoozing, snacking, or snorting (sometimes all three) in the Great Barn's courtyard at Springton Manor Farm.

FYI, Edna is the red one and Earl is the black one 🐽

Turtles are on the move this time of year! Albeit very slowly. They are often searching for sunny places with loose, easy-to-dig soil in which to lay their eggs. Mulched garden beds are popular spots for them to choose, so you may find them plodding around your yard.

This snapping turtle (giving us some serious side-eye) checked out the beds around our Hibernia County Park Office but decided conditions weren't quite right. We feel a little insulted, but we know better than to argue with a mama snapping turtle!

Did you know that chipmunks are called grinnies, chippies, hackles, and rock squirrels, depending on where you live? Whatever you call them, they are certainly entertaining to watch as they gather snacks in their cheek pouches to store for later and duck into old stone walls and other hiding spots. This one was playing peekaboo with Ranger Rita from its den under a tree.
