Biography
Marian Moskowitz began her term as Chester County Commissioner in January 2020 and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Commissioners. Non-Profit Boards
Marian is Chair and board member of the Chester County Economic Development Council and the South Eastern Economic Development Council of PA. In 2017, Governor Wolf appointed Marian to serve on the Board of Governors of the Pen
nsylvania System of Higher Education. Marian was previously appointed by Governor Wolf to serve as Commissioner of the Delaware River Port Authority from 2015-2017. She also serves as Vice-Chair of the Council of Trustees of West Chester University, is President of the Board of Directors of the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA. and serves on the Mayors Task Force to bring train service to Phoenixville. Marian has been a Board member of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, a member of the Board of Trustees of Neumann University, served as Chair of the Jewish Federation of Chester County and has been a board member of the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind for over 27 years. Marian, an urban developer, known for the adaptive re-use of an abandoned, old (built in 1903), vacant, large (225,000 S.F.) Purchased in 2006, it is now a vibrant educational and mixed-use complex. It was named “Best Mixed-Use Project of 2011” by the Philadelphia Business Journal and “Best Land Use Project of 2011” by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. It is a unique project which allows an individual to begin their education at 3 months of age and continue in the same building through to an associate degree or certificate program. Marian started her first business when she was 25 years old as a single mom. Over the years she has been involved in businesses both locally and internationally. Her local businesses have been in the areas of cosmetics, trucking (repair, sales and long-haul trucking) and retail. Internationally, she was CEO of a mobile kiosk company, which imported and exported products to and from North America, South America, the Caribbean, China and Australia. Marian also trained franchisees in the cosmetics industry in several countries in Asia. Awards
The Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce named Marian “Outstanding Citizen of the Year” in 2011 and in 2015 she was awarded the Ellen Ann Roberts Achievement Award for Excellence in the Field of Business from the March of Dimes. Marian and her husband Dave have lived in Chester County since 1984. They have five children and five grandchildren. In her spare time, Marian likes to read, cook, babysit the grandchildren and play the piano. She likes to travel and has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Mexico and Canada.
