Carlos Guerra was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico into a large family of six with three brothers and three sisters. His Father Juan Guerra and his Mother Angelica Guerra moved their entire family from Puerto Rico to NYC and ultimately settled in the South Bay in Carson, Los Angeles County, California.. Carlos knows how to make things happen. A savvy businessman, Carlos has found success in his many endeavors. He is currently a Planning Commissioner for the City of Carson, California; a Promoter, Owner/Executive Director, and Managing Editor of the up and coming news website and non-profit organization Latinoconnect.co; Latino-connect.com; Latinoconnect.org; Latinconnect.co; Donlatinoconnect.com; and Caliricans.net. When discussing his plans for the website he stated “I will have a standard organizational role but unique because I too will be out in the field. I will also be reviewing and commenting on restaurants, movies, interacting with and learning from all my experts and commentators, and also all of you, my friends on LatinoConnect about things we post here, your concerns, comments and thing which affect our Latino community.”
An expert in many fields, Carlos has made an impact in the lives of many through his career in Law Enforcement and volunteer work for the community. As an entrepreneur, Carlos was one of the most sought-after Private Investigators in the insurance industry, earning the respect of top firms, Judges, and lawyers. He is also a Real Estate investor and owns multiple properties in the United States. As if he did not already have enough on his plate, Carlos is writing a book on the side about his gritty experiences as a street police officer in the city of Compton. You see, Carlos graduated from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Academy and served as a Police Officer for the city of Compton, which is notorious for “Rappers” and Gang Violence, despite its good citizens. A former multi-sport athlete and Captain of the Gymnastics high school team, Carlos shared his love for sports by volunteering his time to become a youth baseball and basketball coach in Carson and Long Beach. His winning attitude and no-nonsense demeanor earned him the respect of his players who still refer to him as “Coach” to this day. He also served his community by being selected by the Mayor and City Council for and served as a Planning Commissioner and former “Relocation Appeals Board Member” for the City of Carson, California . Life was quite interesting for Carlos as he grew up in a large, musically talented family. When asked about where his love for music stemmed from he recalled “My oldest ultra talented brother John (R.I.P.) loved music, so I was recruited to play the drums in his band. I then played with other amateur bands, where I also played the saxophone. But I loved sports and ultimately gave up music.” The former musician, drummer, and saxophone player however admits he does own a grand piano that’s collecting dust. Carlos earned his A.A. Degree in Long Beach City College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University Long Beach. He is the proud father of three children. His oldest daughter Angelica, named after his Mother, is a Trauma Registered Nurse. His son Juan was an All-Star Baseball Pitcher is currently a Deputy Sheriff, and his youngest daughter Maria, was named after his oldest sister, is a U.C.L.A. Alumni; Currently has an MBA, and a PharmD, (Doctor of Pharmacy) snf is also an entrepreneur. Carlos is now working extremely hard as a volunteer to connect Latinos near and far because there is much work to be done and he recognizes the inequality that many Latinos still face today and knows there is strength in numbers. ~ Latinoconnect
Don Lino Iglesias Music Expert Commentator’s Bio:
I would like to introduce you to our Music Expert Commentator, Don Lino Iglesias, a Latin Music Expert, Composer, Lyricist, Music Radio Programmer, Music Consultant & Show Host! Don Lino is a native of the cities of Arroyo & Gurabo, Puerto Rico and son of Tomasa and Catalino, brother of Madeline, Janet, Milagros & Luis. Lino, began his involvement in Latin Music at the age of 14, when he became the "Band-boy" of his Arroyo, hometown Band the "Orquesta Nabori," Valdo Caban (Manager) & Roberto for whom he eventually composed several of the tunes featured on the group's first discographic recording entitled "Ritmo Afro-Antillano." In 1984, he moved to NYC where he was the lead vocalist and composer for several Salsa groups including: Conjunto Suave of Chito Rosario, Cruz Control of Ray Cruz & Sergio Rivera, Grupo Raices of Pedro Ithier, Conjunto Real of Mike Torres & Ralph Marzan Jr. and The Rikoson All Stars. Lino Iglesias is considered one of the top lyricist's in the Latin Music arena and also specializes in translating tunes from English to Spanish in all genres. As a music producer in 1994, he produced the highly acclaimed Salsa album, "Evoluciones Del Son" by the group Rikoson All Stars & Yannet Sol, Lino Iglesias & friends. Lino's work as a Composer, he distinguished himself as the first Latino Music Radio Producer, Manager, Programming, Director, On Air Host in the Digital arena, Satellite Radio Industry; Music Choice (Digital Cable Radio) 1990 to 2000; and for Sirius Satellite Radio 2000 to 2004. Currently, Don Lino is working in several new Latin Music productions and adding new names to the list of interpreters of his musical compositions. He is also Programming & Hosting the International Radio Show "Universo Salsero, with Salsa Super Star Singer Choco Orta” & now also collaborating with Carlos Guerra, Exectuve Director & owner of Latinoconnect.co

Maria Guerra Bio: T.V. Personality, Fitness Trainer, Consultant, Spokes person and business owner. Maria is a T.V. Personality, Fitness Trainer, Consultant, Spokes person, entrepenuer Maria Guerra was born and raised in beautiful Southern California, and comes from a rich Hispanic heritage, her father being Puerto Rican and mother Mexican. She sings and plays piano and is Bi-Lingual, Spanish being her first language, having learned English when she started school. She holds a Bachelor's in Business Management with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership, having graduated with honors from Vanguard University. She resides and attends Church in Orange County, California with her two sons. Maria is a business owner and has been a successful group fitness instructor for over 25 years. She started by teaching Kickboxing and Cardio Salsa for L.A. Fitness gyms. Throughout the years, she has also taught for Equinox, Bodies in Motion and Total Woman as well as for Corporate Accounts. Maria’s love for fitness began as she realized the empowerment she obtained by understanding how she could help herself feel better, live healthier, and be stronger.
“Because she was very thin, probably underweight, most of her young adolescent life, she assumed she would never be concerned about her weight. Then the kids came. It was like her metabolism said, ‘Look, I've been working overtime all these years. Now, you're on your own!’ She became very overweight (over 200 pounds at one point), which took a physical, emotional and psychological toll on her well being. She tried every diet in the book and created a few herself, LOL!... nothing worked! She spoke with doctors, trainers, counselors, you name it, and not in vain. In the process, she gained knowledge about how her body works and how its well being is connected to mental and psychological state. After losing approximately 80 pounds, she began meeting many women in similar situations. She wanted to hug them and shake them, but mostly, She wanted to help them. So, BODY BY MARIA was born.”
Maria has appeared as a trainer on a weight-loss TV program, Dale Con Ganas, from the creator of The Biggest Loser, on Univision. She has also appeared in People en Español (Feb, 2012), FitnessMagazine.com, Univision.com, and CBS Moneywatch among others. She is one of the resident Fitness Experts for Primera Edicion on the local Univision television network. Furthermore, Maria travels throughout the country as a Keynote/Motivational Speaker for various Corporate Events and is the National Spokesperson for the American Heart Association's Go Red Por Tu Corazón campaign; and now is reaching out to more people as a consultant at Latinoconnect.co
