🚨Scam Alert🚨
Remember:
If you receive a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money:

❌ Hang up immediately
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information
❌ Do not withdraw or transfer money

No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever demand payment over the phone.

🚨 SCAM ATTEMPT 🚨

Orchard Lake and Keego Harbor officers assisted a citizen earlier today who was on the phone with scammers repeatedly identifying themselves as police officers.

The potential victim withdrew cash from her bank account and was instructed to deposit it into a Bitcoin ATM before becoming suspicious and calling us.

Fortunately, officers were able to intervene before the deposit was made.

What makes this case especially concerning is that the scammer(s) used spoofed non-emergency phone numbers for both the Orchard Lake and West Bloomfield Police Departments, making the calls appear legitimate.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money:

❌ Hang up immediately
❌ Do not provide personal or financial information
❌ Do not withdraw or transfer money

No legitimate law enforcement agency will ever demand payment over the phone.

Sharing this important information to help keep our community informed about emerging substances like Kratom and 7-OH. Awareness & conversations at home can make a difference.

What are Kratom and 7 OH?
Kratom is a plant based substance that can act as a stimulant or a depressant, depending on the dose. 7 OH is a highly concentrated, often synthetic kratom derived substance with a much higher risk of harm, including dependence and overdose. Despite being largely unregulated, both are easy to find in gas stations and convenience stores.
New drugs pop up all the time, making awareness important. Use this as an opportunity to talk with your family about emerging substances and your values and expectations around substance use.
