Dead Woman's Crossing

Dead Woman's Crossing Oklahoma Ghost Hunters and their decade plus quest of searching for the truth Martin L. James. They were on their way to a cousin’s house in Ripley, OK. Norton.

It was July of 1905... Katie James and her fourteen month old toddler, Lulu Belle, boarded a train in Custer City after she had a dispute with her husband, Mr. Sadly mother and daughter would never make it… Katie and Lulu instead, for unknown reasons, got off the train at Weatherford, OK. With a strange woman named Fannie Norton. Later that day Fannie had left Lulu Belle at a nearby farm house.

Katie James was not with her. One Month had passed and a detective named Bartell had gathered enough clues that led him to Mrs. As Bartell had questioned the nervous suspect, she became ill and fell silent to the cell floor. She had poisoned herself. The truth and whereabouts of Mrs. James would die along with her. On August 31, 1905 a father was taking his son fishing on the banks of Deer Creek. They soon stumbled across a skeleton. The remains were in plain sight near a well-used wagon crossing. The skull, with a bullet hole behind the right ear, was several feet away from the rest of the body. A .38 caliber bullet was still lodged in the skull and revolver itself was found nearby. She was buried at the Weatherford Cemetery. Detectives suspected Martin James to be involved in the murder but through a lack of evidence he was never brought before a jury. More than 80 years later that same wooden bridge where Mrs. James was found was tore down. Not too far away a cement bridge was constructed, that bridge is now known as Dead Woman’s Crossing… January of 2000, two young men embarked on an odyssey that would take them through the years…

Three years ago today I filmed this to prelude to each episode. I knew January 2010 was the 10 year anniversary and wanted to present the bridge in glorious HD! I remember this morning very well... I could barley see a foot in front of me while driving the kids to school. I said to myself, "this looks like some freaky movie fog". I instantly thought of my favorite bridge and grabbed my HD camera and headed that way. I shot this alone... imagine that! I didn't care if Katie James showed up... I was getting my shots!
