Memorial Day weekend provides an opportunity for family gatherings, outdoor activities and relaxation. Let’s pause, however, to remember that Memorial Day is to honor those who gave their lives to ensure we enjoy all those freedoms. May God bless all those brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Early voting begins Monday, May 18 and lasts only 5 days until Friday, May 22. I am proud to endorse Senator Mayes Middleton for Attorney General, as I can personally attest to his competency, character and deeply held Christian convictions. For the last seven years, I’ve worked closely with Mayes both in the House and Senate, and have had the opportunity to get to know him and his family. Mayes has my complete trust to serve Texas as our next Attorney General. He’s a principled conservative who will lead the office with honor and distinction.

On this Mother’s Day I want to honor my wife Terry. She has always been a Proverbs 31 wife and mother. She is the most intentional mother and grandmother I could imagine. Raising six children she was also one of the most organized people I’ve known. She loves her daughters and they talk all the time. She had such a special relationship with Josh; I have no idea how many games and tournaments she took him to. It seems there’s always some of the 18 grandkids at the house, and now Terry has started taking the older ones with her on her annual summer hike up Pikes Peak. She’s remarkable. Happy Mother’s Day Terry!

BREAKING NEWS: Today, the U.S. Fifth Court of Appeals rightly upheld SB 10, which I was honored to author in the Texas Senate, affirming our right to display the Ten Commandments in Texas classrooms. As I have said all along, few documents in the history of Western civilization and in American history have had a larger impact on our moral and legal code, and our culture, than the Ten Commandments. Returning this historical document to public school classrooms will provide moral clarity and allow students to better understand the foundation for much of American history and law. This is a great day for Texas!

Did an April Fool’s Day prank cause widespread confusion and misinformation regarding the local I-20/30 construction project? It appears so. I’m told that a fake graphic, originating on April 1st, claiming a total shutdown of I-30 in both directions and was widely distributed across social media. TxDOT was forced to engage in damage control to address the false information. This episode underscores why I strongly recommend you sign up for the emails on the TxDOT website to receive the latest construction information directly. Visit Keep20-30moving.org to sign up for updates and see more specific details on closures. Please see my latest update for more information, including this week’s latest construction updates from TXDOT.

Texans in SD 10 want a state senator who will fight the unacceptable federal encroachment from Washington on our freedoms, rights, and liberties.

As Christians, today is the day we reflect and remember the sacrifice Christ made for us. It was a day that seemed dark and hopeless, but through the pain, humiliation and separation from God, Christ made the way for believers to have everlasting life. Have a Blessed Good Friday.

Vote Jacob Holt for Parker County Commissioner

In 2021, our son-in-law Jacob Holt told Terry and me that he was considering running for county commissioner. We shouldn’t have been surprised as he’d voiced many times before his concerns for our growing community. Terry and I both had reservations knowing well the demands which public service places on your time and family. Campaigns are also particularly difficult in this day. We also knew that representing one of the fastest-growing counties in America, Jacob would have a heavy challenge dealing with water, transportation, and other needs that come with explosive growth.

At the same time, we knew that Jacob had the business experience, energy and integrity to do a great job. Now, after watching him serve we know he is exactly where he should be. We’ve never seen anyone more responsive, accessible and transparent with constituents. He is conscientious, even turning down a raise he didn’t believe was right to accept at that time. He works to educate himself, and I can promise you he’s not shy to argue with me on state/local policy issues!

Jacob’s work ethic is incredible. You’ll always see him out in middle of night when trees are down after storms, not just sending out his crews. He’s brought discipline to the budget process and has worked to plan for our county’s future. In short, Terry and I are proud of Jacob for many reasons, and we humbly ask that you join us in voting to re-elect Jacob Holt as Precinct 2 County Commissioner.
