The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting shoe donations in support of the Shoe Drive Fundraiser benefiting the Upper Room Youth Group and Speed the Light Missions.

Community members are encouraged to donate gently worn, used, or new shoes👟!

📦📍A designated collection box has been placed in the front lobby of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 613 Court Street.

Donations will be accepted during normal business hours, and accepted up until July 25, 2026.
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

✈️🌏Each contribution will help provide footwear to individuals and children in need across the globe.

We appreciate the continued generosity and support of our community in making this effort a success😄!

The Wayne County Courthouse is blocked off for the Whistle Spot Festival and Car Show!!

Rummage sales may resume next weekend 4/25/2026.
You may come next week to the Sheriff's Office and get a permit to set up.

Reminders:
⏺️Everyone must be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. keep the parking lot clean!!!
⏺️Everyone must be responsible for renewing their permits.
⏺️Permits may be requested for a year.
⏺️Permits must be in your possession if a deputy checks for them.
⏺️City of Waynesboro Permits do not apply to the Courthouse Square, as the Sheriff is over the Courthouse Grounds.

4/16/2026 🚨🚨🚨

An operation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office led to the arrest of Jaycee Waites on Gregory Bunch Drive in Clara, MS.

Waites was wanted out of Forrest County, MS for Lustful Touching of a child and two counts of Sexual Battery. Forrest County Authorities have been searching for Mr. Waites since 2023.

Waites is in The Wayne County Jail awaiting pickup by The Forrest County Sheriff's Office.

On March 12, 2026, Deputies were proactively patrolling within Wayne County and identified probable cause to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle.

Upon observing the vehicle and occupants, Deputies observed an illegal firearm in plain view along with four other fi****ms.

Following the observation of the fi****ms, Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and occupants. The search resulted in the recovery of 5 fi****ms, 1 being the illegal firearm equipped with a Machine Gun Conversion Device which can be used to turn a fi****ms into a fully automatic firearm.

The Individuals were taken into custody and charged. Those fi****ms were confiscated and will be submitted to the crime lab for ballistic analysis to determine any potential involvement in criminal activity.

If found in Wayne County with an illegal firearm, you will be arrested and charged with possession of said illegal firearm.

📌We encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly by:
➡️Never driving under the influence. (Planning ahead with a sober driver or use a ride service app)
➡️Never discharging fi****ms into the air or our of motor vehicles.
➡️Supervising Children at all times.
➡️Using fireworks in a responsible manner.
➡️Keeping fireworks away from homes, vehicles, gas tanks/cans or any dry grass or other flammable objects.
➡️Properly disposing of said fireworks after use.
