Ann Lewandowski for Waunakee Board of Trustees

Ann Lewandowski for Waunakee Board of Trustees Fighting for accountability and transparency since 2018 I grew up in a small town in rural northern California called Eureka. Villages promote health.

When I was a child, we still had the good, blue collar jobs for fishing and logging. I started college at a two year university in my hometown to save costs and transferred to one of the top public universities in the world, University of California at Berkeley (Cal). I graduated in 2006 with a degree in rhetoric (persuasion). I believe this background in critical thinking, listening, and articula

tion will be a refreshing change in village hall. In 2008, I begin working in public health/health administration. I learned a tremendous amount about public health policy and population based health models. Some of the interesting changes I have seen in my 11 year career is the acknowledgement of how important the built environment is for health, which is our first and primary path to wealth. Learning more about how to leverage these "social determinants of health" is also a new perspective I will bring to the board. My desire to see Waunakee achieve a healthy community designation is tremendous as is my passion for exploring pathways to establish our community as a "blue zone of health". In 2013, I achieved my six sigma black belt in change management. Six sigma is a process-change management methodology that systematically addresses desired change. I apply the methodology everywhere that I can, which is why in February 2018 I stood up and said I was worried that Terrance Wall was going to sue the village. The process was not consistent or transparent, which created liability for the village. I want clear, transparent policies that enable to us to make sound decisions when moving forward or declining development proposals because I do not want to pay for process mistakes. In 2015, my husband and I moved to Waunakee. We were in our early 30s and were advised not to look here because it was too expensive. Luckily, we found the right house in the right neighborhood. We saw a ton of potential for the village. We fell in love with the village atmosphere of downtown Waunakee. My friends from out of town call us "Mayberry". I am always proud to host my family and friends from out of state because we are such a great place to live. In 2018, I started attending village meetings (I encourage anyone who can to attend). I was alarmed by the discussions I was hearing about "increasing density (unmeasured)". Village life is what most people I know are looking for - the community connection that comes easily in Waunakee. I want Waunakee to grow into a 21st century village planning on how to maximize opportunities. I do not want outside influences, whether it is developers, Madison, or Washington to have the final say in how and why we plan. I stand for the people of Waunakee and by the people.
