The Harrisville Bowl will be hosting a bowling tournament Saturday March 29th to support the Harrisville Vol. Fire Department. More details to come as I get them.

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marilyn May. Marilyn, affectionately called “Mom” by everyone in Fire and EMS in Jefferson County, joined our squad in 1992 at the ripe young age of 53! Back then, there were a few that was unsure of what she would be able to offer us in such a demanding fast paced field. She made them eat those words shortly after.
Marilyn went on to be one of the most dedicated, caring individuals that I have ever met.
Marilyn ran easily 75% or more of our calls, covering around the clock almost every day of the week for 25 years!
Marilyn held many positions within the squad, some elected, some appointed. Marilyn was a Board of Director, Secretary, Assistant Director of Operations, Assistant Billing clerk, distributor of mail, uniform lady, soda machine money collector, cleaner, call runner, decorator….. you name it, she did it.
Marilyn was placed on exempt status only and after she was placed into a nursing home, and it was not an easy thing to do for any of us.
Marilyn will always be within our hearts, and we will miss her every single day! We love you mom, we will continue your legacy, and we will take it from here.

One of our local businesses and advertisers in our latest Convention Program book had a kitchen fire this morning. Unknown on what help we can give, but it would be nice if help can. Details are currently unknown of cause. Let us keep them in our thoughts and hope for a quick and speedy reopening. Photos are from Newzjunky. It would be nice if we could show our support to them, like they did for us.
