Here we go again....💔🦝
According to comments on the original post, the mother raccoon was trapped and “disposed of” days ago, and this is now reportedly the THIRD baby found in three days.
If that information is accurate, these babies have been left without the one thing they depended on for survival-their mother.
People often ask why wildlife rehabilitators get so upset about situations like this. This is why. When a mother animal is removed during baby season, there is a very real possibility that orphaned babies are left behind to suffer from hunger, dehydration, exposure, and predation.
This time, we are not covering up names or protecting the identity of the person who publicly posted this. Wildlife deserves better, and the people deserve to see the consequences of decisions.
Before trapping, relocating, or removing wildlife, PLEASE make sure there are no babies involved. A mother raccoon is not just one animal—she may be the sole source of survival for several babies hidden nearby.
If these reports are true, my heart breaks for the babies still waiting for a mother who isn’t coming back. 💔🦝
For some people, it’s just a raccoon. For those babies, she was everything.
Do better. Wildlife deserves compassion, respect, and humane treatment
