Congressman John Lewis deeply shaped my leadership. He taught me the value of getting into “good trouble, necessary trouble” and reminded us to “not be bitter or hostile, but hopeful and optimistic.”

His courage, tenacity, and commitment to the greater good made him a hero in my family. One of my favorite books is Walking with the Wind, and I was honored to receive a signed copy from him in 2002 while serving as a Congressional Fellow on Capitol Hill.

A good book can change your life. Support books. Support public education.📚
