To The Citizens Of Yalobusha County
To all of you who voted in the recent party primary election, I say thank you. You have performed an important civic duty. But the election process is not over. On November 5, 2019 we have another important election, the general election, that will ultimately decide who will occupy various county positions for the next four years. Included among these is that of Justice Court Judge for District Two, the position that I am a candidate for. Several people told me early on that to win the election I must run as a Democrat. Others said I must run as a Republican. Instead of taking their advice I chose to run as an Independent, well, because I feel all Judge elections should be nonpartisan. There is no place for politics in holding the office of Judge, any Judge, but especially that of Justice Court Judge. Judges’ decisions should be based on the facts, as determined by the evidence, and the law. In doing so the Judge assures everyone who comes before him, or her, that they will receive a fair trial.
If elected I promise to be fair and impartial, to all who come before me, whether rich or poor, and no matter what the color of their skin is, or what political party they favor. I will treat everyone with respect. If elected I will also respect and work well with the present Court Clerk and her deputy. They perform a vital service to our county often without receiving the recognition they deserve.
So again, I ask all of you who voted in August, whether Democrat or Republican, as well as those of you who chose not to vote, to vote on November 5, in the general election. And I humbly ask you to vote for me, Trent Howell, as your next Justice Court Judge.
